The following article contains spoilers for Sakamoto Days (Cour 2 included).
The sequel to “Sakamoto Days,” titled Part 2, is set to debut in July, generating excitement among fans. Unlike the initial installment that skillfully blended everyday life scenes with high-octane moments, the upcoming episodes will fully immerse viewers into an action-packed world, intensifying combat sequences and tension levels.
In the upcoming episodes of “Sakamoto Days”, Taro Sakamoto and Shin Asakura may find themselves in a tough battle as the target on Sakamoto increases, making it a more perilous task for skilled assassins. What might we anticipate? A continuous struggle for survival, high-stakes confrontations, and perhaps unexpected twists in this thrilling tale of friendship and protection.
What’s The Next Arc in the Sakamoto Days Anime?
In a simpler and more conversational manner: The anime adaptation of “Sakamoto Days Cour 1” covered chapters 1 to 37 from the original manga. However, some chapters were left out – these were purely slice-of-life scenes. With action sequences sometimes appearing static, many viewers found it puzzling that these tranquil episodes were omitted, as they are often easier to adapt. It seems counterintuitive to exclude these parts when the team might have been facing challenges with the action scenes instead.
Moving forward, the last episode encompassed Chapters 35-37, marking the start of the Death Row Prisoners storyline. Consequently, the upcoming season will carry on with this narrative thread, spanning from Chapter 32 to Chapter 54. In this segment, certain death row prisoners are freed by X and tasked with assassinating Sakamoto. It’s worth noting that while there will be plenty of action ahead, tranquil moments might become fewer as the series transitions into a more dynamic and swiftly paced narrative style.
My daughter wants it. Nothing matters more than that.
— Taro Sakamoto
It’s looking quite promising that we’ll see more than just the current arc in Sakamoto Days Part 2. It feels like there’s a strong possibility it might delve into the JCC Transfer Exam arc (Chapters 55–72), where our protagonists Shin and Sakamoto attempt to sneak their way into the JCC for valuable intel on Slur. And if luck is on our side, the series could also explore the JCC Infiltration arc (Chapters 73–104) next, which unfolds after they’ve successfully infiltrated the JCC and aim to crack its secrets!
What to Expect from the Animation Quality?
It’s likely that the upcoming Season 1 of Sakamoto Days might mark the last time Lu Shaotang plays a significant role, given the decline in sales when the manga centered more around her. This decline may have prompted Yuto Suzuki to shift focus onto other characters. In fact, it seems that they are considering using Lu as a benchmark for wrapping up the first season of Sakamoto Days. Regardless, after this season, we should not expect to see Lu Shaotang as a recurring character.
Regarding the debated animation quality, it’s expected to maintain a comparable level seen in Part 1, considering that the second season will be heavily action-oriented. This might lead to increased criticism from manga enthusiasts who prefer smoother animations. However, given that production for Part 2 likely began during the airing of Part 1, there may not have been sufficient time to implement substantial changes. Despite this, viewers are encouraged by the latest trailer as they’ve observed improvements in coloring and a greater sense of movement in the scenes, suggesting possible adjustments.
When Will Sakamoto Days Part 2 Be Released?
Following a lengthy period of anticipation, it’s officially confirmed that “Sakamoto Days Cour 2” will be launched on Monday, July 14, 2025. Initially hinted by Netflix to premiere in July, they’ve now specified the exact date for its release.
Fans should not anticipate significant improvements in animation, but they can look forward to resolving a problem that was present in the initial season: episodes released a week earlier on Netflix Japan compared to other regions. This discrepancy led some fans to either use a VPN or illegally stream the latest episodes, as the series remained one of Netflix’s most-watched shows during its run. However, it is likely that the Japanese viewership numbers were artificially boosted by VPN users.
Where to Watch Sakamoto Days?
As a die-hard fan, I’m thrilled to share that Sakamoto Days, an exclusive Netflix series, appears to maintain its status for the second cour. While there might be tweaks in a potential second season, the current indications lean towards continuity due to its impressive viewership numbers, even amidst some constructive criticism from certain sections of the fandom.
If it adheres to the first part’s schedule, fresh episodes will be made available globally on Netflix every Monday, with subtitles and dubbing in numerous languages. Interestingly, this anime is also broadcasted simultaneously on Japanese TV when added to Netflix.
