Saros Confirms How to Get 48 Hours Early Access to Next Big PS5 Exclusive Game

Okay, so Housemarque just announced something cool for those of us hyped for Saros! If you grab the Digital Deluxe Edition, we get to start playing two whole days early – April 28th! For those who don’t know, these are the same folks who made Returnal, which I absolutely loved back in 2021. They’re saying Saros will feel familiar if you played Returnal, with a lot of the same gameplay stuff, but it’s not a direct sequel, so don’t go expecting a continuation of that story.

The game Saros tells the story of Arjun Devraj as he explores the ever-changing world of Carcosa, a setting designed to keep players engaged and surprised. Actor Rahul Kohli, known for his roles in shows like Midnight Mass, The Fall of the House of Usher, and iZombie, will play Arjun. Players will take on the role of Arjun, tasked with tracking down a mysterious person, though their identity and Arjun’s motivations remain a secret. Like Housemarque’s previous game, Returnal, Saros will likely reveal its story gradually through repeated gameplay runs. This is a unique approach compared to story-focused PlayStation games such as The Last of Us and God of War, but it allows Housemarque to utilize their particular strengths as a studio.

Saros’ Gameplay Overview Reveals Digital Deluxe Edition Perks

  • Full game digital download
  • Hands of Shore Armour (Pre-order)
  • Astra Armour
  • Onryo Armour
  • Midgard Armour

So, I was watching PlayStation’s State of Play the other day, and Housemarque showed off some gameplay for their new game, Saros. They also talked about what you get with the digital deluxe edition. If you snag that version, you get the full game download, but the coolest part is you can start playing 48 hours early – April 30, 2026, to be exact! The standard edition is $69.99 on the PlayStation Store, and the digital deluxe will set you back $79.99.

The digital deluxe edition of the game includes four special armor sets inspired by other popular PlayStation exclusives. Pre-ordering any edition unlocks the ‘Hands of the Shore’ armor, which draws inspiration from Death Stranding. The ‘Astra’ armor is based on the outfit worn by Selene Vassos in Returnal. Fans of Ghost of Tsushima will recognize the ‘Onryo’ armor, featuring the same striking black and yellow colors as Jin Sakai’s attire. Lastly, the ‘Midgard’ armor lets players dress Arjun in a look inspired by Kratos from the recent God of War games, adding a touch of divine power to his survival in the dangerous world of Carcosa.

The recent PlayStation State of Play trailer gave players a new look at gameplay in Saros, showcasing how the team has improved upon the mechanics in Returnal. One key change is the ability to instantly teleport to any unlocked area, letting players quickly jump back into the game. The trailer also revealed a Carcosa Modifiers menu, which allows players to customize the difficulty. However, this customization won’t make the game too easy; a gauge in the menu prevents players from completely unbalancing the challenges, even while adjusting enemy difficulty.

The game preview also showed how eclipses will make the world of Carcosa even more challenging. When an eclipse happens, the environment becomes corrupted, changing enemies, landscapes, and even the sound. Players will need to be aware of these changes – for example, the water in the Blighted Marsh will become dangerous and burn you during an eclipse. Based on what’s been revealed, many players are excited for Saros to release on April 30th.
