Save Hal or Ann? The Ultimate Freedom Wars Remastered Decision

In the game, “Freedom Wars Remastered,” the characters find themselves in perilous situations, fighting to save civilians taken hostage by kidnappers in high-stakes operations. Throughout these battles, players will encounter crucial choices that can influence mission results and the broader narrative. For instance, there’s a pivotal decision concerning Ann and Hal, siblings who are key characters in the main plot and provide assistance during routine missions as allies.

Picking one over the other might prove challenging due to their significant roles in the storyline and game mechanics. Herein lies a comprehensive analysis to help you decide which sibling to rescue in Freedom Wars Remastered.

Spoiler Warning: There will be a brief late-game spoiler discussed at the very end of the guide.

Should You Save Hal Or Ann In Freedom Wars Remastered?

After obtaining Level 2 Clearance, you’ll meet siblings Hal and Ann, who are classified as Sinners. They play significant roles in the main storyline and can be utilized as allies during basic missions. As you progress to your Level 5 Cell, you’ll receive a message from Natalia requesting a meeting. She will then assign you and other Sinners to an Operation aimed at supporting a specified squad by eliminating enemy forces. During this mission, Carlos will share that Hal is part of the 15th Squad, while Ann belongs to the 16th Squad.

For the first time during the game, you’ll face a crucial moment where your choice matters significantly. Failing to aid one Platoon will lead to an ambush, causing both the sibling and their team to perish tragically. The rewards for each mission tier, including 1, 2, and 5 stars, differ for the unchosen mission, meaning you’ll miss out on those particular rewards. However, the most substantial impact is that either Hal or Ann will be lost for the rest of the game. Although this decision won’t alter the main story’s final outcome, you’ll witness a poignant scene featuring the surviving sibling grieving the loss of their other family member.

In terms of what’s best for the situation, choosing to save Ann is the wiser option. However, from a moral standpoint, the ultimate decision can be seen as ethically significant.

  • Story-wise, Hal is a caring brother, and choosing him over his sister would make him blame himself for her death. On the other hand, Ann grieves her brother’s loss but does not take it as harshly.
  • From a gameplay standpoint, Hal is a normal damage dealer who uses the Binding Thorn, but there are several other damage dealers available. Ann, however, is a great healer who wields a heavy machine gun. Since healers are scarce, Ann proves to be the more valuable choice for survival and strategy.

Spoiler Warning: Late-game spoilers for Freedom Wars Remastered ahead

After the game ends, it’s possible to resuscitate the other sibling, enabling players to team up with them once more as allies.
