This article contains spoilers from the Solo Leveling manhwa.
I’ve been watching Sung Jin-Woo’s journey in *Solo Leveling*, and it’s incredible. He started as the weakest hunter, barely scraping by, but something changed him. Now, he’s become an absolute force, ruthlessly taking down anything that challenges him. It feels like there’s no limit to how strong he’ll become; he just keeps leveling up and defeating more powerful enemies, leaving everyone – hunters and monsters alike – absolutely terrified in his wake.
While Sung Jin-Woo is a major force in *Solo Leveling*, other incredibly strong monsters exist, like the Monarchs. These Monarchs, who have recently emerged, are powerful enough to challenge even the top National hunters. However, a significant Monarch will be defeated in Season 3 – and it’s not the Beast Monarch or the Frost Monarch.
The Monarch of the Beginning Could Appear in Solo Leveling Season 3
Legia Is One of the Nine Powerful Monarchs

- Legia, the Monarch of the Beginning, is the boss of the S-rank gate in Japan.
- Legia opposes Jin-Woo despite sharing the same title of Monarch.
Although a third season of *Solo Leveling* hasn’t been officially announced, many fans believe the next season will cover the “Japan Crisis” storyline. If this happens, Legia, the Monarch of the Beginning, will appear as the main enemy in an S-rank dungeon that appears in the streets of Tokyo, Japan. This crisis is far more dangerous than the one on Jeju Island, mainly because of the presence of powerful giants.
A powerful, high-level dungeon is about to cause widespread destruction across Asia, forcing Sung Jin-Woo to step in, even though his family is worried about him. He travels to Tokyo and immediately heads for the source of the problem – an S-rank dungeon – where he finds Legia, a powerful being who is strangely bound and unable to fight, unlike other beings of her kind.

Despite this, Legia’s incredibly powerful giants caused massive destruction in Tokyo, killing three of the strongest hunters (S-rank) and several others (A-rank). While Jin-Woo and his shadow army can easily handle the aftermath, the extent of the damage demands immediate action.

Legia Is Not on Humanity’s Side

Legia is a powerful being who discovered the hard way what happens when you cross Sung Jin-Woo. Though he’s an ancient Monarch with incredible abilities, his power isn’t enough to compete with Sung Jin-Woo’s. Despite his impressive title and fearsome reputation, Legia’s confidence quickly disappears when he faces Sung Jin-Woo.
Legia initially believed she had a fair understanding with Jin-Woo, but she soon discovered he operates according to his own principles. She attacked him with everything she had, and in doing so, verified that Jin-Woo remained committed to humanity and wouldn’t side with the Monarchs.
Jin-Woo couldn’t allow the dangerous Legia to live, knowing he could cause immense harm in the future. Driven by the mana crystal in his back to kill humanity, Legia was essentially a disaster waiting to happen, and Jin-Woo needed to stop him before it was too late.
Forget about the deal. It’s too dangerous to keep you alive.—Jin-Woo to Legia
But for Legia, Jin-Woo might be a disaster waiting to happen – someone far more powerful than any Monarch or Ruler. Legia sees him as a completely new type of powerful being, one who doesn’t follow the usual rules or loyalties.
The Rest of the Monarchs Will Come After Jin-Woo
Ashborn’s Betrayal Will Haunt Jin-Woo

Season 2 of Solo Leveling introduced three formidable Monarchs to viewers, starting with Jin-Woo’s defeat of Baran at the Demon Castle. Later, during the Jeju Island ant raid, the Frost and Beast Monarchs appeared, setting the stage for an even larger battle in Season 3 with Sung Jin-Woo.
After learning about Ashborn’s treachery and Legia’s death, the remaining Monarchs will begin to scheme against Sung Jin-Woo, as shown in the *Solo Leveling* manhwa. Some will team up to attack Jin-Woo together, while others will wait for the most powerful Monarch to emerge, hoping they can defeat him.
