I’m a huge fan of farming sims – they’re just the coziest! There are always new ones coming out, which is great, but it can also get a little overwhelming. While Stardew Valley definitely popularized the genre, there were games before it, and its impact is still huge. Honestly, with so many options, the really good ones need something special to stand out, whether it’s a cool new way to play, a unique feature, or a compelling story. That’s why I’m so excited about Grave Seasons – it’s one of the most anticipated cozy farming sims out there right now.
Instead of inheriting a farm, players start by escaping from jail and building a new life in the peaceful town of Ashenridge. While enjoying familiar farming activities like growing crops, fishing, crafting, and mining, they’ll uncover a dark secret: a serial killer is on the loose. Grave Seasons is a story-driven farming simulator where a supernatural killer lurks among the townspeople.
While gathering crops, players will investigate a serial killer haunting the town. This involves finding clues, questioning residents, and even searching their homes. Players can also create protective wards for the town and try to identify and save the killer’s next target. Building relationships with the townsfolk through quests is important, but there’s an additional surprise waiting for you.

How the Serial Killer Works in Grave Seasons
Like most farming games, Grave Seasons lets you build relationships with the characters. What makes it unique is that the game randomly creates a different serial killer each time you play. This means you could potentially fall in love with the killer without even knowing it! The game has introduced a lot of characters already, so players might be starting to think about who they want to romance—and unknowingly be face-to-face with a murderer.
Some NPCs have more details confirmed about them than others.
Althea
Althea is the doctor in Ashenridge, suggesting she likely appreciates intelligence. However, being a doctor also provides a convenient disguise for someone who might be a serial killer.
- PRONOUNS: She/Her
- OCCUPATION: Doctor
Aria
Aria grew up in Ashenridge and has spent years building a life there. Like many artists, they sometimes feel lost and unsure of their path – a familiar struggle for creative people in small towns. You can find them performing at a local bar, and it’s safe to say they’re not much of a baker!
- PRONOUNS: They/Them
- OCCUPATION: Singer and Guitarist in a Band
Brent
The idea of a musician stuck in a small town is a familiar one, and Brent fits the mold. He sees himself as a forward-thinker – he used to work in digital investment – but probably isn’t taken seriously by the locals. They likely see him as another person who thinks they’re better than everyone else, and considers their presence a favor. He spends his time, unsurprisingly, engaging in violent acts.
- PRONOUNS: He/Him
- OCCUPATION: “Innovator”
Elias
Ashenridge is the kind of town where everyone appreciates a good baker, and that’s exactly what Elias provides. He’s a retired gentleman who used to manage a busy restaurant, and it seems some of that old pressure might be returning…
- PRONOUNS: He/Him
- OCCUPATION: Baker
Fitch
Fitch is a retired civil servant who now serves as the mayor of Ashenridge. Players can usually find him around the docks, in his office, or welcoming newcomers to town. However, he’s not well-liked, and many residents of Grave Seasons are dissatisfied with his leadership, making him a potential target – or someone easily provoked.
- PRONOUNS: He/Him
- OCCUPATION: Mayor
Gregory
Everyone says bartenders know everything, but in the town of Grave Seasons, that role belongs to Gregory, who runs the local diner. He’s a quiet, reserved man, and quickly becomes a person of interest. Gregory values hard work and is a talented cook, but he also has a long-standing feud with the owner of the town bar, Lukas. While he seems friendly at first, players soon discover Gregory is hiding a troubled past.
- PRONOUNS: He/Him
- OCCUPATION: Diner Owner
Hari
Gregory is a reserved and suspicious shopkeeper, while Hari appears to be a cheerful, carefree person – someone you wouldn’t suspect of anything, until it’s too late. Hari is incredibly social and knows everyone in Ashenridge, but his enthusiasm can sometimes make him act impulsively. Perhaps the killings weren’t intentional. Importantly, Hari and Yuto don’t get along, and this conflict could be a key to uncovering the identity of the serial killer in Grave Seasons.
- PRONOUNS: He/Him
- OCCUPATION: Farmhand
Ishan
Currently, the only thing we know about Ishan is that he’s a teacher for the young people of Ashenridge. He’s quite an enigma, shrouded in mystery.
- PRONOUNS: He/Him
- OCCUPATION: Schoolteacher
Jessie
A popular theory about the killer in Grave Seasons suggests they might be a werewolf, which would make Jessie, with their experience handling animals, a valuable ally – or a perfect disguise. Jessie isn’t thrilled with their job; they simply go through the motions of feeding animals and assisting customers, wishing they could be anywhere else. They dream of escaping town for exciting adventures, both real and imagined, and spend a lot of time at the local diner.
- PRONOUNS: They/Them
- OCCUPATION: Animal Handler
Kaarina
Kaarina works as a waitress at the diner Jessie often visits, and she’s saving her tips to pay for school. She can seem a bit distant at first – she doesn’t warm up to people easily. Kaarina used to be the lead singer in a local rock band in Ashenridge, but after the band split up, she developed a passion for movies and collecting vinyl records. She’s a true movie lover.
- PRONOUNS: She/Her
- OCCUPATION: Waitress
Leilani
Leilani is known as a kind and loving person who enjoys thrilling books and TV shows. Despite her interest in suspense, she finds balance working as a florist. A lifelong resident of Ashenridge, she’s a pillar of the community – everyone knows she’s secretly holding onto a long-standing resentment, but she’s too good-natured to ever mention it.
- PRONOUNS: She/Her
- OCCUPATION: Florist
Lukas
You know, every town has its characters, and Ashenridge is no different. The owner of the local bar, Lukas, has a bit of a past – he used to be a real wanderer, always chasing the next party. He’s calmed down a lot since then, letting a lot of that life go, just like people change. He’s always cracking jokes and teasing everyone, but I get the feeling it’s a way to hide how sad he really is.
- PRONOUNS: He/Him
- OCCUPATION: Local Bar Owner
Maggie
Maggie and Althea were once close friends, but drifted apart when Maggie left to travel and experience new things. Years later, Maggie returns to Ashenridge and starts working with Althea at her clinic, though she’s become somewhat grumpy over the years.
- PRONOUNS: She/Her
- OCCUPATION: Doctor’s Assistant
Naya
Naya assists Mayor Fitch with his duties.
- PRONOUNS: She/Her
- OCCUPATION: Mayor’s Assistant
Noa
Noa comes across as intimidating due to his imposing presence and mysterious background, making people wary of him. However, all he really wants is to get to The Big Fish, the bait and tackle shop down by the docks, where he works. Despite his tough exterior, some think Noa is actually a good person who simply longs for companionship.
- PRONOUNS: He/Him
- OCCUPATION: Fisherman
Pilar
Pilar is more than just a tailor – she’s friendly and enjoys meeting new people. She’s creative, loves nature, and is known for being playful and easygoing. However, she keeps to herself and doesn’t seem to form deep connections with others, appearing to be hiding something. That all changes when the main character from Grave Seasons arrives.
- PRONOUNS: She/Her
- OCCUPATION: Tailor
Rose
Rose works as a librarian, and that’s the only thing we know for sure. However, given how she looks and her profession, she seems like a reserved person. And it’s always best to be wary of those who are quiet.
- PRONOUNS: She/Her
- OCCUPATION: Librarian
Sameera
In the unsettling world of the cozy horror game, Sameera, the butcher, immediately raises questions. She’s portrayed as successful and grounded, but so focused on her work—and, well, eliminating people—that she neglects relationships and self-care. Hopefully, as the main character of Grave Seasons, she’ll discover new possibilities and broaden her horizons.
- PRONOUNS: She/Her
- OCCUPATION: Butcher
Tomás
Tomás doesn’t fit the typical image of a priest, and he’s a regular at the local bar, often spending his evenings there. Though he’s well-mannered, he seems to struggle finding a sense of belonging in Ashenridge. It’s often observed that people with difficult religious backgrounds can be driven to extremes – either becoming captivating villains or falling deeply in love.
- PRONOUNS: He/Him
- OCCUPATION: Priest
Yuto
Yuto is a bit of a mystery – he’s guarded and doesn’t like to share what goes on at the S-Mart. He’s definitely not afraid to speak his mind, and his sarcastic wit is how he gets through working retail in a small town.
- PRONOUNS: He/Him
- OCCUPATION: S-Mart Store Manager
