Say Hello To One Piece’s New Nika After Monkey D. Luffy

This article contains spoilers from One Piece’s Elbaf Arc.

2025 was a huge year for One Piece, with the manga diving deep into the Elbaf arc and the anime delivering more episodes set on Egghead Island. While the manga will likely continue exploring the land of the Giants in 2026, the anime is expected to conclude the Egghead arc this year. Currently, the anime is wrapping up the Egghead story as Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates gear up to escape the island and the formidable Five Elders.

Things are about to get very complicated. The government is trying to remove all traces of Nika from history on Egghead Island, but they’re unaware of a new, even greater danger heading their way. Luffy is already fighting at his strongest with Gear 5, embodying the Sun God Nika, and it looks like Jewelry Bonney will soon join the fight as another Nika. Thanks to her powerful Devil Fruit, the Toshi Toshi no Mi, Bonney has the ability to transform into Nika and fight alongside Luffy on Egghead.

Jewelry Bonney Is The New Nika Of One Piece

The idea of the Sun God Nika first appeared in the Wano Country Arc of One Piece, and it’s connected to how Luffy unlocked his full potential. During his battle with Kaido, Luffy awakened his Devil Fruit, allowing him to use Nika’s powers for the very first time.

That’s more like it! I want a future where I can be totally free. — Jewelry Bonney, One Piece

Luffy has used this incredible ability many times and is now considered one of the world’s most powerful fighters. However, he isn’t the only one who can tap into the power of Nika. Jewelry Bonney also possesses it, making her the second known user of this power in the current generation, thanks to her unique Devil Fruit.

Jewelry Bonney’s Devil Fruit, the Toshi Toshi no Mi, allows her to create any future she believes is possible. Because she now knows Nika is real – and has even witnessed Nika’s power firsthand in the One Piece anime – she can potentially unlock and use those same abilities. In One Piece Episode 1151, airing November 30th, fans will finally see Bonney transform into her Nika form and fight alongside Luffy, showcasing the full extent of her power.

Bonney Can Now Access Gear 5 As A Temporary Power-Up

Bonney’s Devil Fruit ability has always been impressive, but we saw a huge leap in its power during the Egghead arc. She can now tap into a form similar to Gear 5, though it doesn’t last forever, and she’s able to use the same liberating power as Luffy. Essentially, Bonney is now acting like the Nika god in the world of One Piece, which is surprising because it means there are currently two beings with that power – though Bonney’s version is temporary.

Bonney’s Devil Fruit Holds Great Potential

Bonney has an incredibly powerful ability: if she knows about another god or powerful being in the world of One Piece and truly believes in them, she can tap into their power. She can also mimic the abilities of anyone who has eaten a Devil Fruit, or even draw on the unique traits of different races. Many fans consider Bonney’s Devil Fruit to be the most adaptable and versatile one in the entire series, and it’s important to remember that when considering her potential.

One Piece will have a break next week, and a new chapter (Chapter 1166) will be released on November 23, 2025. Fans can read it for free on Manga Plus.
