In Season 3 of *Solo Leveling*, viewers will meet a new, incredibly strong necromancer who, like Sung Jin-Woo, can control the undead. This necromancer is aware of Jin-Woo and his growing power. Let’s explore who this mysterious figure is.

Jin-Woo Is a High-Class Necromancer

A lot of anime fans think necromancy isn’t a very powerful magic type, and Sung Jin-Woo used to agree. He’d hoped to become an Assassin, because he fought using speed, hidden movement, and accurate attacks. Raising the dead didn’t fit his skills or how he liked to fight, but the System had different ideas for him.

Once Jin-Woo chose the Necromancer class, he unlocked a secret, incredibly powerful ability called Shadow Monarch. This was a turning point for Jin-Woo, who was previously considered the weakest hunter. He rapidly learned to control this new power, transforming a normally weak type of magic into something that could compete with the strongest beings. Everyone realized then that Jin-Woo was destined for greatness.

Sung Jin-Woo quickly became Korea’s most powerful hunter thanks to his ability to control the undead. Unique skills like Shadow Extraction and Shadow Exchange allowed him to build a powerful army of shadows – loyal, mobile, and incredibly effective in battle. Importantly, as Jin-Woo grows stronger, so does his shadow army.

The Arch Lich Is a Powerful Necromancer in Solo Leveling

The Arch Lich Worships Sung Jin-Woo

In Solo Leveling, most character classes like healers, tanks, and assassins have plenty of examples within the story. However, information about other necromancers is scarce. Sung Jin-Woo is the only truly prominent necromancer – until Season 3. The new season will introduce a powerful necromancer, the Arch Lich – the boss of the Busan Gate – who holds Jin-Woo in high regard.

In Solo Leveling Chapter 120, a powerful necromancer called the Arch Lich appears before the Knights Guild. This undead monster shows Jin-Woo immense respect, similar to how Beru reveres his master. However, unlike Beru, the Arch Lich isn’t actually serving Jin-Woo. Beru actually ridicules the Arch Lich and its undead army, referring to them as the forces the King hasn’t chosen.

Park Jong-Soo, the leader of the Knights Guild, warns that the Arch Lich is incredibly powerful. It completely destroyed the Gold Dragon Guild, a prominent group from China, years ago. Luckily, Liu Zhigang intervened, preventing even more damage – even a team of top-level (A-rank) hunters wouldn’t stand a chance against it. This means only a team including an S-rank hunter has the potential to defeat the Arch Lich.

Beru Is Still Stronger Than the Arch Lich

Beru considered the Arch Lich’s undead army – including creatures like two-headed ogres, death knights, and vampires – to be a minor annoyance compared to Sung Jin-Woo’s shadow soldiers. He confidently and mockingly taunted the Arch Lich’s forces, relying on his powerful abilities to support his arrogance. It wasn’t long before he demonstrated just how strong he was.

Beru defeated the powerful Arch Lich with a single punch, shocking the Knight Guild hunters who knew of the monster’s fearsome reputation. It was an effortless victory for Beru, who completed his mission without a struggle. The Arch Lich, once a terrifying threat, was quickly overcome, proving to be just another defeated enemy for Jin-Woo’s shadow army.
