This article contains spoilers for Solo Leveling and Solo Leveling Ragnarok
I’ve been watching Solo Leveling gain massive popularity over the last couple of years, and it’s easy to see why. The first season was a huge hit, and the second season just exploded – it actually became the most reviewed anime on Crunchyroll! What really draws people in isn’t necessarily the story itself, but the incredible action sequences. And at the heart of it all is Sung Jinwoo, the main character, who’s clearly captured the attention and affection of fans.
Sung Jinwoo is the standout character in the original Solo Leveling series, and now his son, Sung Suho, is carrying the torch. Suho is the main character in the sequel, Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, and fans are really enjoying his story.
Sung Jinwoo Is Solo Leveling’s Biggest Highlight
- Sung Jinwoo Has Become A Popular Main Character
Solo Leveling has quickly become a global phenomenon, and much of its popularity stems from its main character, Sung Jinwoo. Like many protagonists, Jinwoo begins the story as a relatively weak individual – so weak, in fact, that he’s considered one of the weakest even among the lowest-ranked Hunters. But everything changes when he enters the Double Dungeon, where he’s given a unique ability: the power to continuously grow stronger.
This new ability allowed Jinwoo to continuously improve and become more powerful, unlike other Hunters who remained at their initial level. This made him exceptionally strong, eventually surpassing even the most powerful S-Rank Hunters, as demonstrated in Season 2. He first showcased his incredible strength during the battle against the Ant King on Jeju Island.
I represent everything you’ve overcome – the hardships you’ve faced, the battles you’ve fought, and the pain you’ve endured. I am death, but also the peace that follows, and the fear that accompanies it. – Ashborn to Sung Jinwoo, Solo Leveling
Jinwoo’s incredible journey from a weak character to a powerful one, combined with his cool and collected personality, has made him a huge hit with anime fans. He was even voted Best Main Character of the Year at the 2025 Crunchyroll Awards, beating out popular characters like Frieren and Maomao! This just proves how beloved he’s become, and it’s clear that Solo Leveling’s Jinwoo will only continue to grow in popularity.
Sung Jinwoo Already Has A Replacement In Sung Suho
- Sung Suho is Jinwoo’s Own Son
- Sung Suho Has The Same Powers As Jinwoo
Sung Jinwoo is a very popular character, but unfortunately, his story has already finished in the original Solo Leveling webcomic and novels. The anime is still being made, but there isn’t a lot of source material left, meaning it will likely only get around two more seasons.
It’s definitely bittersweet seeing Jinwoo’s journey come to a close, but thankfully, Solo Leveling isn’t ending with him. I’ve learned that the story will continue with Jinwoo’s son, Sung Suho, taking the lead.
The sequel to Solo Leveling, titled Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, follows Sung Suho as the main character. He’s the son of Jinwoo and Cha Hae In, and like his father, he’s a very skilled fighter.
Suho gains the powers of the Shadow Monarch after Jinwoo, but he isn’t simply a duplicate. Suho is unique, possessing his own strengths. While Jinwoo often acted alone, Suho prefers to work with others and even creates shadow weapons to help his allies.
Fans are now convinced that Suho isn’t just replacing Jinwoo, but is actually a stronger and more compelling protagonist for the Solo Leveling story.
Many fans are hoping for an anime adaptation of Solo Leveling: Ragnarok. While it’s unlikely to happen immediately, if the original series continues to be popular, an anime for the sequel is very likely in the future.
Is Sung Suho’s Adventure In Solo Leveling: Ragnarok Canon?
- Solo Leveling Ragnarok Is Set In Another Universe
After the conclusion of Jinwoo’s story in Solo Leveling, Sung Suho’s continuation has left some fans questioning whether it’s officially part of the original story. This is because the sequel, Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, wasn’t written by the original author, Chugong. Instead, it’s penned by a different writer named Daul.
My mom often said I was starting to resemble my father. It made me wonder, how could he have overcome feeling so powerless? – Sung Suho
Even though different authors worked on it, Chugong approved this project and considers it part of the Solo Leveling story. However, he’s clarified that Solo Leveling Ragnarok is essentially just a fun side story – fan service – and doesn’t take place in the same universe as the original. Think of it as an alternate timeline within the Solo Leveling world.
Chugong created ‘Ragnarok’ as a treat for fans of ‘Solo Leveling.’ He was interested to see another author’s take on the world he created. While ‘Ragnarok’ takes place in the ‘Solo Leveling’ universe, it doesn’t follow the main storyline directly—think of it as an alternate reality, much like the different universes in Marvel comics. Chugong is also considering writing a follow-up story himself.
The original story of Solo Leveling doesn’t include a son named Suho for Jinwoo. As of right now, with no new sequels planned by the author Chugong, Ragnarok is the closest thing fans will get to a continuation of the series.
Solo Leveling Ragnarok’s Manhwa Was Releasing Weekly
The series Solo Leveling: Ragnarok ended in 2025, which disappointed many fans since it marked the end of all original Solo Leveling content. However, there was a silver lining: new content was released shortly after the conclusion.
Now that the novel for Solo Leveling: Ragnarok is finished, the manhwa (comic) has resumed. After a short pause, season two began, but unfortunately, the original artist has had to leave to fulfill military service obligations. A new artist will be taking over, but the manga will remain on hold until they are prepared to start. For the latest news and updates on Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, please check back here for immediate announcements.
Solo Leveling has two seasons out right now, one with 12 episodes, and the other with 13, for a combined episode count of 25 episodes available to watch right now. The series can be streamed on Crunchyroll for fans to enjoy while awaiting any more news concerning the third season. There have been no major announcements about a third season so far. Fans can get more Solo Leveling content via the Manhwa.
