This article contains spoilers from Chainsaw Man.
When discussing the most spectacular anime of the last decade, Attack on Titan is frequently mentioned. It’s fair to say that Attack on Titan has undeniably cemented its place as one of the greatest anime series ever made, and possibly *the* best. Many fans believe it represents the high point of anime, and whether that’s completely accurate or not, there’s widespread agreement that Attack on Titan is a masterpiece among the very best. After Attack on Titan ended officially, it quickly became clear just how difficult it would be to find another anime to take its place.
It’s rare to find an anime as impactful as Attack on Titan, and fans understand that stories this good don’t come around often. However, there’s one anime series that, while relatively new, has seen a big comeback in 2025, and it’s been receiving a lot of positive attention lately. The manga version is already considered a classic, and now the anime is really shining too. That series is Chainsaw Man. Tatsuki Fujimoto’s incredible work just got a new movie, and everyone who’s seen it is raving about it. While the story is different, Chainsaw Man is a must-watch anime for all fans of Attack on Titan.
Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc Is Doing Incredible Numbers
A Series With Vibe Very Similar To Attack On Titan

- One of the highest-grossing anime movies of 2025
- Fujimoto’s writing is often said to be one of the best
Chainsaw Man tells the story of Denji, a remarkable young man who merges with a dog called Pochita, transforming into a Human-Devil hybrid. In a world now populated by Devils, Denji becomes a member of the Public Safety Devil Hunters and dedicates himself to fighting for what’s right.
What are you up to? Get up, Dad. Have you forgotten why you’re here? It’s to get revenge for your sister, the one the dogs ate. And for your friends. Dina. Kruger. You need to avenge them. Keep pushing forward. Even if it costs you your life. Even beyond death. Weren’t you the one who began this whole thing? – Eren Yeager
From the start, those who enjoy Attack on Titan will notice parallels with this series, and they’d be correct to think that their favorite, Chainsaw Man, also delves into themes of violence and the struggle to survive. While Attack on Titan is a Shonen anime, many viewers considered it to be more mature than most anime series. Chainsaw Man shares that same feeling, and arguably takes those mature themes even further than Attack on Titan.
The anime adaptation of Chainsaw Man arrived in 2021, but it didn’t quite meet fans’ hopes. However, the manga itself became incredibly popular. Now, the movie adaptation of the Reze Arc has brought the series back into the spotlight. The Reze movie is the second biggest anime movie of the year, following Infinity Castle, and in certain areas, it’s even competing directly with Infinity Castle in terms of viewership.
The Reze movie is truly outstanding and addresses several issues present in the original anime. It’s fair to say that the Reze movie could be the best animated film of 2025, and while Infinity Castle will likely be more popular overall, it’s a far more visually impressive experience with a heartfelt story that fans will adore – making it the Attack on Titan of 2025.

Chainsaw Man Will Only Grow In Popularity
Reze Movie Has Caused A Rebirth For Chainsaw Man

The recent buzz around the Reze movie has brought Chainsaw Man back into the spotlight. More fans are realizing that this series is worth watching, and it’s quickly becoming one of the most popular anime of the moment. In many ways, the Chainsaw Man franchise has experienced a rebirth, and hopefully, the creators will capitalize on this renewed interest to create even more compelling adaptations as the story continues.

The manga for Attack on Titan finished in 2021. It became incredibly popular around the world and consists of 34 volumes. The entire Attack on Titan manga story has been turned into an anime series. There are currently four seasons of the anime, and also some movies. You can stream the Attack on Titan anime on Crunchyroll.
