Say Hello To The New Upcoming Solo Leveling Stories Confirmed By The Author

This article contains spoilers for Solo Leveling.

The anime adaptation of Solo Leveling by A-1 Pictures has made the series a global phenomenon. Its exciting and action-packed battles immediately captivated viewers, and the anime’s release significantly boosted the popularity of Solo Leveling.

None of this success would’ve been possible without the original Solo Leveling novel.

I’ve been following the Solo Leveling series, and it’s amazing how much of an impact it’s had. The author, Chugong, finished the main story back in 2018, and while he still interacts with fans through Q&As, everyone’s been hoping for more written content. It seems like that might finally be happening! Last year, Chugong hinted he’s planning some side stories, specifically mentioning characters like Igris and Ashborn. That news really got fans, including me, excited – it’s great to know we’ll be getting more from the Solo Leveling world.

Chugong Wants To Create Side Stories For Igris And Ashborn

  • Igris is One of Jinwoo’s Shadows
  • Ashborn is the Former Shadow Monarch
  • Chugong Confirmed Major Side Stories In 2025

The popular web novel Solo Leveling began as the solo project of South Korean author Chugong, who wrote it from 2016 to 2018. Fans have been eager for more stories in the Solo Leveling universe, and Chugong has announced he plans to deliver. In a blog post last year, he shared that he’s interested in writing additional side stories, focusing particularly on the characters of Igris and Ashborn.

As many viewers are aware, Igris is currently one of Jinwoo’s shadow soldiers. He first appeared in Season 1 of Solo Leveling, where Jinwoo defeated him. After this, Igris became a devoted follower. Since then, he’s remained loyal and has essentially become Jinwoo’s closest aide and right-hand man.

Let me tell you, as someone who’s seen a lot, I’m more than just an end. I’m the proof that you fought, the mark of everything you overcame, and honestly, the peace you earned through all the pain. People fear me, call me Death, and yeah, I guess I am that too… but I also offer a final, lasting rest. It’s a strange role, but I see it all.

Fans of Solo Leveling are aware that Ashborn hasn’t appeared in the anime yet, despite being a crucial character in the story. He’s actually the former Shadow Monarch and will be very important as the series continues. Many manhwa readers know he’s the one responsible for Jinwoo’s biggest power boost. It’s expected that he’ll appear in either the upcoming Solo Leveling movie or in Season 3 of the anime, whichever is released first.

The Lore Of Solo Leveling Will Be Greatly Expanded With New Side Stories

If the author, Chugong, writes additional stories focusing on Igris and Ashborn, fans would get a deeper understanding of these characters, potentially making them even more popular. More importantly, it would significantly enrich the overall story and history of Solo Leveling, particularly by revealing more about their past roles.

Ashborn’s story is particularly exciting because he used to be the Shadow Monarch. Exploring his past could reveal more about the powerful Absolute Being, a figure that remains largely unknown to Solo Leveling fans. Many questions still surround the events of Ashborn’s time, and we might finally see the complete battle between the Ruler, the Monarchs, and the Absolute Being. This could even show Ashborn and Igris fighting as allies.

Igris Is Already Getting A Mini Backstory Through Solo Leveling: Arise

  • Igris’s Real Life as Sian Halat Will Be Explored Soon
  • Igris’s Backstory Will Be Released On January 15

Currently, the author, Chugong, isn’t working on any extra stories. However, we might learn more about Igris’s past soon! He’s being added to the Solo Leveling: Arise game in his human form, and to celebrate, a backstory chapter will be released as a special treat for fans.

Viewers will finally see Igris as a human, before he became the shadowy figure he is now. His appearance will match the description Chugong provided earlier – long grey hair and blue eyes.

After much anticipation, Igris, the faithful sword of the Shadow Monarch, has arrived, now known as Sian Halat.

A new, incredibly strong character, known as the “Dark Element Elemental Stacker,” is joining the game. As hinted before, this character will be a major force in battles, bringing immense destructive power. The story behind the character Igris, revealing his past life as Sian Halat, will be shared on January 15, 2026. Fans are eagerly anticipating learning more about him, even though much of his history is still unknown. The author has previously hinted that Sian was known as Igris of the Battlefield when he was alive.

Fans will be excited to discover that Sian was once a celebrated Knight before becoming the character they know now. Learning about her past will add another layer to this popular character.

Chugong’s Future Plans For Solo Leveling

  • Chugong Wants to Write a Solo Leveling Sequel Someday
  • Chugong Would Like to Write a Story About Jinwoo and Joohee

Readers are really looking forward to Chugong writing more stories about Igris and Ashborn. However, he doesn’t seem to be working on those right now. It’s also unknown how much input Chugong has on the backstory of Sian Halat in the Solo Leveling: Arise game.

Despite these separate stories, the author of Solo Leveling, Chugong, has mentioned wanting to add more content to the series, and some of it might involve romance. While fans know Sung Jinwoo ends up with Cha Hae-In in Solo Leveling Ragnarok, Chugong has also expressed interest in exploring a romantic connection between Jinwoo and Joo Hee. They had a clear romantic tension previously, but the author ultimately decided to remove her character from the main storyline.

Beyond that, Chugong has mentioned wanting to write a brand new sequel, distinct from Solo Leveling: Ragnarok. Since Ragnarok is written by someone else, Chugong is interested in continuing Jinwoo’s story himself after the original novel finished. Unfortunately, neither of these ideas are being developed right now, at least not publicly. Fans will need to wait for future announcements from Chugong for more details.
