As a huge One Piece fan, I’ve always known that Luffy’s Straw Hat Pirate Crew isn’t complete just yet! It’s amazing to think back to how Luffy first formed the Straw Hat Pirates at the very start of the series, and how much stronger they’ve become since then. Remember the original East Blue crew? Zoro, Nami, Usopp, and Sanji were all early recruits. Then, as they headed into the Grand Line, even more pirates joined their adventure! We had Vivi join them for a while, and then the super-cute Chopper became a member, quickly followed by the incredibly talented Nico Robin.

Following Franky’s addition during the Water 7 Saga, Brook became the newest member of the Straw Hat Pirates as their musician in the Thriller Bark arc. After a significant wait, the crew didn’t gain another member until the Wano arc, when Jinbe officially joined. Now, there’s room for just one more pirate. Recent sketches from Oda’s work on Egghead suggest that he’s considering Bonney as the final addition to the Straw Hat Pirates.

One Piece followers have been eagerly anticipating the identity of the last member to join the Straw Hat Pirates. From the start of Luffy’s quest to become the Pirate King, he expressed a desire for a crew of 10. Oda, the creator, mentioned Luffy’s goal of having 10 crewmates in a conversation with another manga artist, further confirming that Luffy aims to have 10 pirates sailing with him. Currently, the Straw Hat crew consists of 9 members, leaving one spot open. Recent developments suggest that Oda is strongly considering Bonney as the final addition to the crew.

The latest drafts from Eiichiro Oda have revealed a new sketch of Jewelry Bonney. This sketch clearly shows Bonney wearing Luffy’s famous Straw Hat. Fans will recall that Luffy previously placed the Straw Hat on Nami’s head when she became a crew member. Even now, Nami is one of the very few characters who have ever worn the hat. Oda depicting Bonney with the Straw Hat strongly suggests she may officially join the crew.

Fans Want Bonney To Join The Crew

Although Bonney is a strong candidate for the last open position on the Straw Hat crew, other characters are also possibilities. During the events in Elbaf, Luffy formally invited Loki to join the crew. Currently, Loki doesn’t appear eager to become a Straw Hat, but his feelings might change after fighting with Luffy against Imu. Additionally, Vivi is a well-known character who is currently looking for a place to call home. Having been a crew member before, she could easily return as the final addition. Eventually, Oda will reveal to fans who the final Straw Hat will be, but right now, Bonney seems like the most likely choice.

The newest installment of One Piece, Chapter 1162, is scheduled for release next week. As is typical, new chapters of One Piece come out on Sundays. In Japan, it will be available at 12:00 AM JST on Monday. But for most fans around the world, the chapter will be accessible on October 12.
