This article contains spoilers from My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen.
Last year was tough for Shonen Jump. Losing two of its most popular series back-to-back – alongside mainstays like One Piece, My Hero Academia, and Jujutsu Kaisen – really hurt. It felt like a difficult period for the magazine. But it looks like Jump is already bouncing back, with new series stepping up to fill the void left behind.
I’ve been following the buzz around new manga series, and it’s interesting to see the support they’re getting from big names. Kohei Horikoshi, the creator of *My Hero Academia*, is officially backing both of these titles, and Eiichiro Oda, who created *One Piece*, recently explained that *Jump* magazine needs three major hits to stay popular. He feels *One Piece* will continue to be one of them for a long time, but fans should also be looking at *Ichi the Witch* and *Kagurabachi* as the next big things.
Shonen Jump Has Two Big Replacements For My Hero Academia And Jujutsu Kaisen
Ichi The Witch and Kagurabachi Are The Two New Pillars

- A new era has begun in Jump
- Horikoshi has officially backed both Ichi the Witch and Kagurabachi
After the popular manga series *My Hero Academia* and *Jujutsu Kaisen* finished, many fans were concerned about the future of *Weekly Shonen Jump*. The magazine was facing a string of cancellations, and losing two of its biggest hits put it in a difficult position. However, this also created a chance for new creators to shine. That’s exactly what happened with the rise of *Kagurabachi* and *Ichi the Witch*.
This is the story of how we all became Heroes! — Izuku Midoriya, My Hero Academia
Kagurabachi began releasing in Summer 2024 and quickly became incredibly popular, building a large and dedicated fanbase. It’s now one of the most successful manga currently published in Jump.

Right after *My Hero Academia* finished, *Ichi the Witch* began and immediately grabbed readers’ attention. It’s still incredibly popular and poised to become even more well-known. Both *Ichi the Witch* and *Kagurabachi* have been officially endorsed by *My Hero Academia*’s creator, Kohei Horikoshi. He recently interviewed the creator of *Kagurabachi* and even helped with the storyboard for its first chapter. It’s clear that Horikoshi believes these two series will be the next big hits in Jump magazine.
Kagurabachi Is Getting An Anime Soon
A Web Domain Has Already Been Registered

Kagurabachi is already well-liked, but it’s poised to become even more popular with the upcoming anime adaptation, which is expected to significantly increase sales. Ichi the Witch doesn’t have an anime planned yet, but fans anticipate an announcement once the manga reaches around 100 chapters. Both series have the potential to become major hits and greatly impact the anime and manga industry.

New chapters of both *Kagurabachi* and *Ichi the Witch* are coming out this week! They’ll both be released on Sunday. While the new issue of *Jump* magazine becomes available in Japan at midnight on Monday (JST), most international fans will be able to read the chapters on October 12th. That’s the official release date for *Kagurabachi* Chapter 97 and *Ichi the Witch* Chapter 54. You can read them for free on Manga Plus.
