Schedule 1 Being Investigated For IP Copyright Infringement Claims

A legal inquiry looms over Schedule 1’s horizon, as its resemblance to Movie Games S.A.’s Drug Dealer Simulator 1 & 2 series has raised concerns. This potential similarity could potentially halt the momentum of the project.

While many were getting excited for Warzone’s Verdansk or still savoring Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ success, an indie game on Steam, titled Schedule 1, was quietly taking the lead. This game revolves around the illegal drug trade and all the hardships that come with living a criminal lifestyle. Remarkably, this theme seems to be striking a chord as Schedule 1 reached a peak of more than 400,000 players and keeps attracting new buyers daily.

Things were progressing smoothly, however, on April 3rd, Movie Games S.A. requested a review of TVGS’ Schedule 1.

Steam Sensation Schedule 1 Under Investigation For Infringement

Information from the probe has emerged on the papbiznes website, concerning a document titled: “Movie Games SA (17/2025) – Initiating Investigation into the creators of Schedule 1 production for accusations of intellectual property infringement and unethical competition against them.

Movie Games S.A. offers a pair of video games centered around the illegal drug trade: Drug Dealer Simulator 1 and Drug Dealer Simulator 2. Although their names are quite explicit about their themes, they’ve managed to draw in a substantial number of players, with each title claiming thousands under its wing.

The document warns about possible violations of the issuer’s copyrights and actions suggesting unethical competition. In simpler terms, it seems that Schedule 1 resembles the Drug Dealer Simulator series, similar to the legal dispute between Nintendo and Palworld.

The proceedings commenced immediately upon the release of Schedule 1 on March 24, encompassing: “A comprehensive comparison between the Company’s intellectual property, such as Drug Dealer Simulator and Drug Dealer Simulator 2, and the Schedule 1 project.

The probe is thoroughly examining aspects such as the storyline, gameplay dynamics, and user interface (UI) within the game. Rest assured that any updates on future steps taken to address potential intellectual property infringements and unethical competition will be promptly communicated in forthcoming reports.

If you’re finding Schedule 1 appealing, why not explore its future direction by looking at its roadmap and plans. And, if it’s accessible on a gaming console, that could be an added bonus for you!
