A fresh update for Schedule 1 has been rolled out in Steam’s beta version. This update introduces several changes, such as swapping employee beds with lockers, incorporating item slot filters, and making numerous enhancements and bug corrections. Since its massive debut on Steam in March, Schedule 1 has consistently received regular updates. The developers at TVGS have announced that a community vote will shortly become available for deciding the next significant content update.
As a dedicated gamer, I’ve been diving into the world of Schedule 1 since its beta release. On May 8th, the long-awaited update hit live servers, introducing a fresh new feature called “Stash & Dash” for my in-game storage unit, a groovy jukebox item, and other exciting additions. This update also packed some neat bug fixes and general enhancements, with Tyler, the game’s brilliant solo developer, focusing on optimizing save times by consolidating our saves into larger combined files to prevent Steam Cloud Sync from causing any issues. Over the course of several updates, Tyler has been diligently refining these merged save files, and now, with this latest beta update, it looks like we’ve reached the final stage of this improvement process.
After Tyler announced the introduction of a much-needed Schedule 1 feature yesterday, the developer has rolled out the long-awaited update for the game in its beta phase. As per the official release notes (available further down this article), the new update brings about a significant change – employee beds have been swapped with lockers, something that gamers have been clamoring for over the past few weeks. Additionally, the update introduces item slot filters, enabling players to establish whitelists or blacklists on slots, thus specifying which items employees should or shouldn’t store in a specific slot. Moreover, the update comes with multiple bug fixes and enhancements, such as an expansion of the storage unit workforce, now accommodating up to 3 employees at each location.
The new version of the game should be out in its entirety by the end of next week, but if you want to try it early, you’ll need to join the beta branch for Schedule 1 on Steam. To do this, locate Schedule 1 on Steam, right-click the game, choose Properties, then navigate to Betas and change the Beta Participation to Beta. Keep in mind that since this is a beta version, it might contain bugs, performance issues, or other problems that could affect gameplay. If there are no significant problems found during the beta testing, the full release will likely follow next week.
Many global fans are excited about the upcoming update, but Australian players may feel let down since Schedule 1 was recently taken off Steam in their country. Initially, it sparked speculation that the game had been banned. However, Tyler clarified that the removal was due to a need for an age rating/classification. The developer reassured fans that the game would return to Steam shortly, as he’s already reached out to the ratings agency and is optimistic about a quick resolution.
Schedule 1 Beta Patch Notes for Update 0.3.6
Important note for this beta
This beta version concludes our project to consolidate save files by merging numerous small ones into a few larger ones. Now, NPCs and game properties are saved within a single file, resulting in quicker saving times and improved Steam cloud sync functionality. It’s essential to backup your current save game before playing on this beta version, as there might be some bugs. You can easily create a backup using the export/import buttons located in the main menu.

Additions
- Added lockers. These will be replacing employee beds. For compatibility reasons, employees will still be assigned to beds in existing saves, but going forward, you can use lockers instead, which are more space-efficient and can store more stuff.
- Added item slot filters. You can now set whitelists or blacklists on slots to tell employees which items should or shouldn’t go in a particular slot.
- Added employee property transfers.
Tweaks/Improvements
- Increased storage unit employee capacity to 3.
- Consolidated all NPC save files.
- Consolidated property save files.
- Consolidated business save files.
- Changed the trash can pickup area to be square instead of circular.
- The trash can pickup area is now visible while you’re placing the trash can.
Bug fixes
- Fixed occasional NPC long-distance pathing failures.
- Fixed occasional employee pathing failures.
- Fixed employees sometimes attempting to pick up items that they don’t have the inventory capacity for.
- Fixed botanist-related performance issue.
- Fixed police showing question marks above their heads while they’re unconscious.
- Fixed viewmodel drifting.
Here’s how the update is affecting you? I believe that by integrating the item slot filters along with lockers, we’ve significantly improved the functionality of the employees. This change should also speed up saving processes and play well with Steam cloud sync. Enjoy!
Currently, I’m working on establishing a system for in-game polling, and I anticipate conducting the initial vote within the upcoming week. Once activated, you’ll have the opportunity to cast your vote on proposed features for our next significant update. The potential choices might include:
1. New game mode
2. Improved graphics
3. Introducing new characters
4. Enhancement of existing gameplay mechanics
5. Other player-suggested ideas
