Developer TVGS has shared a glimpse of the eagerly awaited Cartel update for their indie game, and they’ve also provided a more specific launch timeframe. Originally, Tyler, the lone developer, mentioned that this new update would drop by the end of July. However, he recently announced that it will be available on the beta branch next week. This could mean fans might start playing from as early as Monday, August 4.
Earlier this year, TVGS’s popular crime simulation game on Steam created quite a buzz, boasting over 460,000 concurrent players and ranking high among the platform’s most-played games in its initial weeks. Although it’s still in its early stages, the game has already undergone several updates with new features, enhancements, and content added. Based on TVGS’s official roadmap (Schedule 1), the developer has some major plans for the game’s future, with numerous significant updates lined up. Players have already received smaller updates, but the first significant Schedule 1 update is now only a few days away.
Previously this year, TVGS opened a poll for fans to decide on the upcoming Schedule 1 update. Three distinct choices were provided: a Cartel update, a Shrooms update, or a Police Expansion update. Following a weekend of voting, the Cartel update emerged as the popular choice, and TVGS began working on the patch’s development. Although initially promised for release by the end of July, Tyler has recently announced via Twitter that it will be launched on the game’s beta branch next week. While an exact release date was not specified, the update is now expected to drop anytime between Monday, August 4, and Sunday, August 10. Additionally, a fresh set of screenshots from the update, viewable below, were also circulated.
Schedule 1 Cartel Update Coming Next Week
Looking forward to the upcoming game update, bursting with fresh content, players can hardly contain their excitement. Yet, similar to past updates for indie titles, this one will initially be in beta mode. Fortunately, accessing the beta version is simple: on Steam, right-click the game, go to Properties, then choose Betas and change the Beta Participation to Beta. Keep in mind though, the update being in beta means it may contain bugs, glitches, or performance problems. For a smoother experience, it’s suggested to wait for the full release, typically coming 1-2 weeks after the beta.
Despite a slight delay in its release, the timing for the update is ideal for fans residing in Australia. Earlier this year, there was an unexpected disappearance of Schedule 1 from Steam within their region. The game’s removal sparked speculation that it had been banned due to its drug-related themes. However, creator Tyler clarified that it was merely a temporary absence because the game lacked an official age rating. After two months of unavailability on Steam in Australia, Schedule 1 made its comeback in July, coinciding perfectly with the arrival of the Cartel update.
