As a long-time Scooby-Doo fan and avid gamer, I’m beyond excited about Matthew Lillard’s latest tease of a new Scooby-Doo project! Shaggy has been a beloved character of mine since I first watched the classic cartoons as a kid. I still remember playing those old Scooby-Doo video games, some good, some bad, but always fun.

Actor Matthew Lillard, who’s known for voicing Norville “Shaggy” Rogers, has given a hint that a new Scooby-Doo project is brewing, and it seems to be something other than a movie or cartoon series. Lillard initially brought Shaggy to life in the live-action Scooby-Doo films from the early 2000s, and since Casey Kasem retired from acting in 2009, he has voiced Shaggy in almost all animated Scooby-Doo productions.

As a child growing up in the ’80s and ’90s, I was a huge fan of Scooby-Doo. The cartoon series was one of my favorites, and I spent countless hours watching reruns on Saturday mornings. When I discovered that there were video games based on the show, I was overjoyed! I remember saving up my allowance to buy Mattel’s Intellevision game featuring Scooby and the gang. Unfortunately, most of those early video games didn’t live up to the high expectations I had for them. They were clumsy and unpolished, with frustrating controls and repetitive gameplay.

As a longtime fan of the iconic cartoon series “Scooby-Doo,” I was beyond excited when I heard that Matthew Lillard had teased a new project on Instagram earlier this week. However, upon reading further, my excitement quickly turned to confusion as it seemed that this wasn’t a movie or a cartoon, but rather something called a “beta experience” for fans to test out.

Shaggy Actor Matthew Lillard Teases New Scooby-Doo “Experience”

The specific timeline for the beta test remains unclear, causing speculation among fans about the nature of the “Scooby-Doo experience.” While it’s suggested that it might be a video game, we don’t know yet if it’s a remake of an old title like “Scooby-Doo: Night of 100 Frights” or something entirely new. Additionally, there’s a chance this could be a LEGO Scooby-Doo licensed game as part of the upcoming project.

It’s almost certain that Matthew Lillard is set to reprise his character as Shaggy in the latest Scooby-Doo project. This announcement has been met with excitement by fans who have identified with him as the timid yet endearing sidekick since 2002. The nature of this new project, whether it’s a remake, a VR experience similar to Batman: Arkham Shadow, or a full-scale Scooby-Doo game, is still uncertain and will probably be revealed gradually as more information becomes available. However, eager players can already register for the chance to play it before anyone else.
