In the latest instalment, it’s Scopper Gaban who makes his long-awaited entrance in “One Piece”, a character that Oda has been hinting at for years. Chapter 1139 marked his grand introduction, and chapter 1140 gave us a sneak peek into his power. Although his battle with Luffy and Zoro has concluded, there’s still much more to uncover about Scopper Gaban, and it seems he might soon engage the Holy Knights in combat.
Scopper Gaban’s Introduction In One Piece
- Gaban Was Introduced As A Pirate As Strong as Rayleigh and Roger
- Gaban Holds Secrets Of The World
Scopper Gaban is a crucial character in “One Piece,” a figure that the author has longed to include in the narrative. He made his debut in Chapter 19, and was notably mentioned first in a “One Piece” databook. The initial sighting of Gaban in the current storyline occurred in “One Piece” chapter 631, on the cover story, where he was spotted at the Twin Capes, enjoying a drink with Crocus, an old crewmate. A more detailed look at Gaban in the present timeline came in “One Piece” chapter 1139. He was initially presented as a character of immense strength, comparable to the Pirate King and the Dark King themselves, while also having enough renown to be regarded as a living legend.

In Aurust Castle, Oimo and Kashi presented Gaban to the group consisting of Luffy, Zoro, Nami, and themselves. They guided this newcomer towards Loki’s key. Showing off his strength even in old age, Gaban dared Luffy to take the key from him, a challenge he seemed capable of handling. To everyone’s amazement, Scopper Gaban effortlessly outmaneuvered Luffy, despite Luffy’s ability to see the future. Unfortunately for them, Luffy was unable to snatch the key from Gaban. Not only did Gaban exhibit his mastery of Supreme King Haki Infusion, but he also demonstrated a powerful technique that sent chills through the ranks of a Yonko and the second-in-command of their crew.

Gaban, despite his immense strength, feigned it as a jest and subsequently departed from Aurust Castle. He handed over the key to Loki’s chains to Luffy with the promise that if Elbaf was still standing at the end of their stay in the country, he would be there to meet Luffy.
Why Scopper Gaban Could Fight The Holy Knights
Scopper Gaban’s Job Isn’t Done Yet

It’s possible that Scopper Gaban’s role extends beyond testing Luffy and guiding him to his key. After all, Gaban hinted at wanting to discuss important matters with Luffy following the major events in Elbaf. However, there seems to be more to Gaban’s presence than just this. Remember, Gaban initially entered Aurust Castle because he sensed a mysterious and ominous Haki emanating from it, prompting him to investigate personally.
In Elbaf, no one possessed the ability to sense this type of Haki, indicating that Gaban’s mastery of it surpasses everyone else. However, even though this was the case, Gunko summoned two Holy Knights to Elbaf, suggesting that Gaban would have detected this Haki too. Consequently, as anticipated, it seems likely that Scopper Gaban will travel to Walrus School next, since that’s where the Holy Knights currently reside.

It’s evident that Scopper Gaban continues to have significance in Elbaf, given that he has a son named Collun who seems destined for a pivotal role. In earlier events, we’ve witnessed the Holy Knights planning to abduct children from Walrus School and transport them to their holy land. Their current strategy appears to involve setting up a grand game, with the intention of capturing the children during this game.
Interestingly, Collun is currently missing from the scene. This could potentially lead him to attempt a rescue mission for the kidnapped kids, but at great personal risk, as he would be facing immediate danger. In such a scenario, Scopper Gaban might step in to save his son and confront the Holy Knights single-handedly.
Will Scopper Gaban Die In One Piece?
His Chances Of Death Are Almost Zero
It appears that Scopper Gaban is set to engage the Holy Knights in Elbaf solo, with Shamrock Figarland returning to Marijoa, leaving Gunko, Sommers, and Killingham to confront Gaban. Given their power levels, they will likely need to combine forces against Gaban, making this an arduous battle for him. Although he might have previously handled three formidable foes like the Holy Knights in his prime, his current age means he may struggle significantly. This fight could result in injuries for Gaban and potentially even a self-sacrifice. However, it’s certain that Gaban will not perish in Elbaf; instead, he may make some significant sacrifice to pass crucial information onto Luffy. Fans can expect an intense battle showcasing Gaban’s abilities, as well as emphasizing his role as a parent – a development eagerly anticipated by One Piece fans.
