The new installment may leap forward by five years or more in time, causing some apprehension among fans. Guy Busick stepped in to revamp the script for Scream 7, and in a surprising twist, Neve Campbell agreed to rejoin as Sidney Prescott – after sitting out Scream 6 due to an unresolved salary dispute with Spyglass Media.
As a dedicated fan of the Scream franchise, I’m excited to share that Sidney’s family is set to take center stage in Scream 7’s plot. There are whispers of a five-year time jump, which would allow Sidney’s eldest daughters to grow into teenagers and become more actively involved in the Ghostface killings. However, some fans are hesitant about this potential time jump, as it goes against the realistic progression of time established in the first six movies.
If another sequel is announced, it would make sense to directly follow the events of Scream 7

This means that Kevin Williamson must skillfully handle this element if he wants to keep the audience engaged. Some speculate that a cult of Ghostface killers could be stalking Sidney and her loved ones, serving as potential storylines for “Scream 7” and its successor.
The films “Halloween (2018)” and “Halloween Kills,” released with a three-year gap between them, effectively connected by being set on the same night. For the upcoming “Scream 7” and “Scream 8,” maintaining this continuity would be beneficial to keep the series cohesive and lessen the impact of the time difference. With whispers that “Scream 7” could initiate a new trilogy, it’s recommended that all three films in this potential new storyline take place closely together.
The next Scream film, following directly on from the last installment, would set itself apart from past sequels by introducing new twists and keeping the storyline engaging. Some fans are advocating for the return of character Stu Macher as the focal point for Scream 7 and any subsequent films. By taking a more continuous narrative approach, the franchise could also reflect current horror trends and offer contemporary commentary.
