Scream 7: These Characters Could Be The Perfect Replacements For Sam And Tara

Highlights

  • Scream 7 shifts focus to Sidney Prescott and her family after Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega’s exits.
  • The rumored time jump may put Sidney’s kids in danger, making them Ghostface targets like Sidney was.
  • Scream 7 may incorporate ideas from the initial Sam & Tara storyline into a new focus on Sidney’s daughters.

As a die-hard fan who has been following the Scream franchise since its inception, I must admit that the recent changes in the direction of Scream 7 have left me with mixed feelings. On one hand, I was looking forward to seeing more of Sam and Tara’s story unfold, especially after their captivating performances in Scream (2022) and Scream 6. On the other hand, the idea of focusing on Sidney Prescott and her family, particularly her daughters, has a certain appeal that I can’t ignore.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t hide my excitement about the transformations Scream 7 has been going through following the phenomenal success of Scream 6. Initially, it was intended to wrap up Sam and Tara Carpenter’s story in collaboration with the other Core Four members. However, the departures of Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega necessitated a complete overhaul. Consequently, Scream 7 will now primarily revolve around Sidney Prescott and her kin. There’s even talk about a leap in time to place two of Sidney’s children in their teenage years, making them potential candidates to fill the void left by Sam and Tara.

The bond between the Carpenter sisters was a massive part of Scream (2022) and Scream 6, and it’ll be a shame not to see that relationship progress. However, Sidney’s daughters could fill the void left by Sam and Tara in Scream 7.The original plans for Scream 7 could be incorporated into the new plan for the movie, with some of Sam and Tara’s storylines transferring to Sidney’s kids.

Ghostface Could Possibly Target Sidney’s Daughters In Scream 7

Scream 7: These Characters Could Be The Perfect Replacements For Sam And Tara

In Scream 7, Ghostface will zero in on Sidney Prescott as his next target, while the storylines for Sam and Tara conclude in Scream 6. There’s buzz that Patrick Dempsey may return to play Mark Kincaid from Scream 3 in Scream 7. An interesting twist is that his character is now married to Sidney with three children together.

Should the five-year time leap occur, it is plausible that Ghostface would zero in on Sidney and Mark’s elder children, given Ghostface’s historical preference for teenagers as victims, such as the 17-year-old Sidney from the original Scream in 1996. Therefore, it seems likely that Ghostface will concentrate his efforts on Sidney and Mark’s teenage daughters in Scream 7, given Neve Campbell’s recent interview with Entertainment Tonight suggesting that the plot revolves around Sidney, and her daughters are likely to play a significant role as an extension of that focus.

In “Scream 7,” the Prescott/Kincaid siblings might step into the shoes of the next generation of final girls to be guided by Sidney, potentially shaping the future direction of the franchise. If these sisters find themselves under Ghostface’s knife in the movie, it could evoke memories of Sidney’s initial struggle against Billy Loomis and Stu Macher’s Ghostface killers from the original “Scream.”

Sidney’s Daughter’s Could Fill The Void Left By Sam And Tara‘s No Show

In the 2022 version of Scream and Scream 6, Sam and Tara’s confrontations with Ghostface killers strengthened their bond as sisters. This marked a fresh direction for the Scream franchise, as it centered around two final girls who were related to each other, a departure from the usual siblings portrayed in the series. Previous Scream films have included sibling pairs like Dewey and Tatum Riley in the original movie, Sam and Tara’s Core Four friends Chad and Mindy in the latest installments, as well as more unconventional sibling pairings such as Sidney and her Ghostface killer brother Roman Bridger, and Randy and Martha Meeks who sadly did not share any on-screen moments due to Randy’s demise in Scream 2.

In the aftermath of the recent movies, the theme of sisterhood could persist in Scream 7, even without Sam and Tara present. If Ghostface continues his hunt, Sidney’s daughters might find themselves in a similar perilous situation, being targeted as a means to reach Sidney. So far, Neve Campbell is the only confirmed cast member for Scream 7, but it’s highly likely that Sidney’s children will play significant roles in the plot.

As a devoted fan, I was thrilled when the concept for Scream 7 initially revolved around Sam and Tara’s tale once more. However, it seems that Guy Busick and James Vanderbilt had penned a script for this sequel. Given the recent shift in focus towards Sidney, I believe some of the ideas originally intended for Sam and Tara could be repurposed instead of being discarded. Of course, certain specifics related to the Carpenter sisters would need alteration, but the concepts centered around sisterly bonds and a joint sibling battle against Ghostface can be seamlessly applied to Sidney’s offspring.

As a die-hard fan, I’m eagerly anticipating the transformation of Sidney in “Scream 7.” Instead of solely focusing on her survival, she’ll prioritize shielding her offspring. Initially, there were plans to eliminate Tara and delve into Sam’s descent into darkness. A potential route for “Scream 7” could involve the demise of one of Sidney’s children. However, I believe it would be more compelling to witness Sidney’s reaction to such a loss rather than focusing on her surviving daughter’s response. Over the years, we’ve been privy to Sidney’s character development, and it would hold greater weight to see her retaliate against Ghostface. While Sam and Tara shared a rich relationship spanning two films, forcing Sidney’s surviving daughter to follow in Sam’s dark footsteps feels contrived. This shift could breathe new life into the storyline of “Scream 7.”
