Sea of Legends announced by creator of Shadowrun

As a seasoned gamer with decades of pirate-plundering, sword-wielding, and deck-building adventures under my belt, the announcement of Sea of Legends has sent shivers of excitement down my spine! The team behind this game is nothing short of legendary, with Jordan Weisman, creator of Shadowrun, BattleTech, and Crimson Skies at the helm. Add to that Jeffery Campbell from Darkest Dungeon and Deus Ex fame, and Kate Cruz from Skull & Bones, and you’ve got a crew that can steer even the roughest seas towards adventure!

The creator of Shadowrun, BattleTech, and Crimson Skies, Jordan Weisman has announced Sea of Legends, a new open world deck-building RPG. The team also includes Jeffery Campbell (Darkest Dungeon, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided), and Kate Cruz on art duties (Skull & Bones).

This year, we’re launching a Kickstarter campaign on October 1st for our game. The concept behind this game was initially developed by Zach Weisman and Ryan Schapals as a board game, and now our team is inviting players to embark on an adventure. In this Caribbean setting, filled with the Crowns of Europe, mysterious sea creatures, undead, and more, you’ll be forging a path from a scallywag to a pirate king, amassing infamy along the way.

The Sea of Legends is being developed by a skilled team comprising veteran adventure game writers and developers, including Andrew McIntosh (Lead Writer of BATTLETECH, Shadowrun: Dragonfall, and Shadowrun: Hong Kong), Jeffery Campbell (Narrative Designer on Darkest Dungeon, Dead Rising 4, and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided), Kate Cruz (Senior Concept artist on Ubisoft’s Skull & Bones), and Jordan Weisman himself. This is the inaugural video game based on the successful tabletop series that successfully funded two crowdfunding projects.

The exploits of pirate teams will traverse the vast Caribbean waters, where they hunt for vessels to loot, settlements to raid, hidden riches to unearth, hearts to win, and enemies to defeat. As they progress, their personal growth and the team they assemble will shape their decks of cards that dictate sea battles, boarding maneuvers, tavern brawls, lethal duels, and strategic conflicts against rival pirates, naval forces, and supernatural creatures they’ve allied with.

The upcoming CRPG is fueled by “Adventure Forge”, as detailed in the press release, which is a user-friendly, no-code game creation platform designed to empower game masters, storytellers, authors, and artists to develop their own story-driven video games. This platform will be available on Steam’s early access later this year following three years of development (and a closed beta). It will come equipped with assets and comprehensive guides to assist users in creating their own games.
