I need to come clean about something: I’m a collector, or more precisely, a hoarder. You won’t believe this, but I’ve never used an elixir, ether, or hi-ether in any game I’ve played, and I don’t even want to talk about megalixirs. At the end of every JRPG I play, my inventory is overflowing with valuable items for no apparent reason other than making my gaming experience more challenging.
In Sea of Stars, and particularly the DLC Throes of the Watchmaker, things were far from easy-peasy. Goodness gracious, it was a real challenge! I found myself having to use every single healing item at my disposal, which, in this game, are disguised as food resources.
To make certain there was enough popcorn and ice cream on hand for later use, I needed to prepare my own meals. To create delicious treats, I had to look up some recipes since my Solstice Warriors aren’t very familiar with the art of circus-style desserts.
In this tutorial, I will demonstrate how to locate every culinary recipe within Sea of Stars: Throes of the Watchmaker, helping you navigate more effortlessly during encounters with the Puppeteer while allowing you to obtain an immaculate new achievement.
All Cooking Recipes in Throes of the Watchmaker

In contrast to the original Sea of Stars game, Throes of the Watchmaker introduces a refreshing twist by resetting your character’s progression. Characters Zale and Valere undergo class transformations, discard all their current equipment, and none of the consumables remain functional in Horloge.
To replenish your Health Points (HP), Magic Points (MP), or revive from being Knocked Out (KO), it would be smart to either set aside some funds or go on a hunt for ingredients to prepare snacks like popcorn, ice cream, and other circus-themed foods.
Initially, our culinary repertoire consisted of just two dishes, Popcorn and Ice Cream. Later on, we broadened our cooking abilities by discovering an additional three recipes from the book, “Throes of the Watchmaker”.
The three recipes we find are:
Recipe |
Effect |
---|---|
Barbapapa |
Cures KO +75% HP (Ally) |
Milkshake |
+75% HP/+33% MP (Ally) |
Caramel Corn |
+40% HP (Party) |
Barbapapa
Ivory Towers
At Ivory Towers, you’ll find a wall adorned with climbing vines. Ascend these vines to activate a gate, which will grant you access to the Narcissus King’s fortress.
Upon arrival at Ivory Towers, locate a vine-covered wall where you can climb up to trigger an entrance gate. This gate leads into the castle of the Narcissus King.
Rather than venturing through the gate and descending, I opted to veer right towards the tangled vines, where I stumbled upon a strange milk dispenser. After shimmying down the vines, I noticed a solitary chest tucked away in the corner.
To access the Barbarapapa recipe, simply open it up. This is the top-notch version as it has the power to heal KO. Notably, it’s also a delightful dessert option.
Milkshake
Wolf Rock
As you venture deeper into Wolf Rock, you’ll eventually come across a pitch-black region. By activating crystals, you can illuminate the environment and effectively tackle the intricate puzzles that lie ahead.
Here in this region, the Muse Drone is operational too, meaning we can employ it for shifting items and advancing ahead. Navigate through this dimly lit area until you uncover a brief wooden staircase shortcut.
As you descend these steps, carry the Muse Drone platform along, planning to set it down elsewhere. Before you reach your primary goal, though, you’ll encounter a midway block.
As a dedicated enthusiast, I invite you to engage with it, conjure up an innovative platform seemingly out of nowhere, and beyond that veil, you’ll uncover a treasure chest brimming with the secret Milkshake formula.
Caramel Corn
Horloge Town
In Horloge Town, locating the Caramel Corn recipe isn’t difficult, yet it might elude you if your focus wanders. This is due to the fact that it’s sold at a specific stall, though it doesn’t appear until late in the game.
It wasn’t clear whether it appeared prior or subsequent to the Wolf Rock incidents, but I purchased it following the acquisition of the pass to enter the final Big Top dungeon within Throes of the Watchmaker.
The vendor can be located on the eastern part of Horloge Town. You’ll find him directly in front of the tent where you usually hand over the Certificate of Balloonery, which is where you obtain the Time Rune IX.
Initially, her business was limited to selling Music Notes, but over time, she started providing a Caramel Corn Recipe as well. However, this recipe comes at a higher cost of 79 Tokens, which is quite expensive. So, you might want to accumulate some tickets or consider selling some of your own ingredients if needed.
