As a seasoned pirate captain with countless hours logged on the high seas of Sea of Thieves, I can’t help but feel a thrill of anticipation as Season 13 approaches. The announcement that players would have the chance to join forces with the infamous Captain Flameheart sent shivers down my spine!
In the pirate-themed adventure game “Sea of Thieves,” the upcoming Season 13 brings a significant decision for players: align with or confront Captain Flameheart. Starting July 25, gamers can either fight against Flameheart’s powerful vessel, The Burning Blade, or commandeer it themselves.
Captain Flameheart of “Sea of Thieves” is a pivotal character and longtime adversary, introduced after the game’s launch in 2016 but teased in a trailer at E3 that year. He has played a significant role in shaping the game’s narrative since his formal debut in 2019.
I was thrilled when they announced back in June that Sea of Thieves Season 13 would let us play as the villains. But a recent trailer released on July 18 gave even more exciting details! Sure, we could still team up to fight against Flameheart’s Obsidian Skeleton crew and search for The Burning Blade. However, sinking this warship won’t be a walk in the park. This ship boasts ten cannons, is immune to fire-based attacks, and can unleash massive fireballs with its Ashen Roar ability. It’s the most powerful vessel in the entire game! But if we manage to defeat it, the Blade of Souls weapon is ours, growing more valuable based on completed rituals and exchangeable for gold and reputation.
Seas of Theives Season 13 Lets Players Join Captain Flameheart
In simple terms, if you pledge allegiance to Captain Flameheart in “Sea of Thieves,” you’ll get the chance to lead The Burning Blade pirate ship, making you the antagonists for Season 13’s storyline. Enemies trying to stop Captain Flameheart can locate The Burning Blade on the map, so those joining his side must defend it from attacks. Players who return The Burning Blade to Flameheart will earn wealth and reputation. However, be warned that switching ships means leaving your previous one behind, so make sure to move all treasures and resources first.
During Season 13, Burning Blade teams can count on the support of faithful Obsidian Skeletons stationed in newly introduced Skeleton Camps, devoted to Flameheart. Although these skeletons will assist only Burning Blade pirates, all players can access the camps and their crypt vaults beneath temples. In the crypts, players can engage in puzzles or confront hordes of skeletons to accomplish rituals. Regardless of the faction chosen by players, they will have the opportunity to acquire new Sea of Thieves outfits, weapons, commendations, and rewards during Season 13.
