Second Persona 4 Actor Snub Signals New Voice Cast For Remake

Summary

  • A second voice actor from Persona 4 has confirmed they won’t return for the remake before its official announcement.
  • Atlus may be following their new trend of remaking classic games that were previously only on a few platforms.
  • The original voice cast expressing disappointment may make it hard for fans to accept new actors in a remake of Persona 4.

One actor from the original cast of ‘Persona 4’ has expressed they won’t participate in the remake, despite it not being formally unveiled as such.

It’s been buzzing around that a makeover for the game “Persona 4” might be in the works, similar to how “Persona 3 Reload” was handled. This aligns with Atlus’ recent strategy of bringing over and refreshing some of their timeless titles, as they were initially limited to just a few gaming platforms.

On May 28, 2025, voice actor Yuri Lowenthal expressed on a since-deleted BlueSky post that he wouldn’t reprise his role as Yusuke in the unofficially announced remake of Persona 4, despite having asked to do so. Now, another voice actor has shared that they won’t be part of this upcoming, yet-to-be-confirmed game.

Chie’s Voice Actor Won’t Be Returning For The Persona 4 Remake

Erin Fitzgerald, who lent her voice to Chie Satonaka in Persona 4, shared on BlueSky that she hasn’t been given the opportunity to reprise her role in the remake, and she expressed regret for not getting another chance to portray her character.

For those asking, I have not been asked to reprise my role as Chie Satonaka in the Persona 4 remake. RIP I am blessed to have recorded as many Persona 4 games as I did playing her.

To set the record straight, just like Lowenthal, I haven’t personally reached out to Atlus about a remake of Persona 4. The absence of confirmation doesn’t automatically mean the game is real; it could simply be that there isn’t a remake in the works yet. After all, the gaming universe can surprise us at every turn!

Yet, since Lowenthal has verified that the game is indeed in production, it seems that this second reaction might be a backlash from the original cast, who are apparently upset because they can’t reprise their beloved roles again.

In a scenario where the remake of “Persona 4” becomes a reality and features an entirely new voice cast, it could potentially create challenges for fans to warm up to these new actors in familiar roles, even though they haven’t done anything wrong. Ideally, this won’t be the case, and fans will adapt positively to any fresh talent that future “Persona” remakes might introduce.
