Secret Level Is Gaining New Praise Two Years After Its Amazon Prime Debut

After nearly two years, the animated anthology series Secret Level is finally gaining the praise many fans believed it deserved. Created by Tim Miller, who directed Deadpool, and produced by Blur Studio (the team behind Love, Death + Robots), the show is getting renewed attention with the upcoming second season.

I’m really excited about Secret Level! It’s an animated series on Prime Video with 15 episodes, and each one is a completely new story based in a different video game world. They’re short – between 7 and 17 minutes long – but the cool thing is how many different games they cover. The producers have said they really wanted to include everything from huge titles like God of War and Warhammer 40,000 to smaller, indie games like Sifu and Spelunky. It didn’t get perfect reviews when it came out late last year, but it still became Amazon’s biggest animated premiere ever, which is awesome!

As of January 2026, Secret Level is gaining popularity once more, this time due to Games Workshop. They’re finishing up a new episode based on Warhammer: Age of Sigmar, which will likely be released before Season 2 to keep fans engaged. This information came from Games Workshop’s recent financial report, which also highlighted the success of the Warhammer 40K episode starring Titus, which generated a lot of excitement. Amazon has already approved a second season following the show’s strong launch, and it seems preparations are underway for a return in late 2026.

Why Secret Level Is Finally Getting the Recognition It Deserves

A major reason Secret Level has remained popular is its impressive list of voice actors, including Keanu Reeves, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kevin Hart, and Laura Bailey. The Sifu episode was particularly well-received for its smooth martial arts animation, and the Warhammer 40K short attracted new viewers with its dark and detailed world. Surprisingly, the unsettling Pac-Man adaptation is now being developed into a complete game. While critics had some reservations initially, fans continued to support the show. Currently, it has a 71% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, and it reached 83% after the first season ended.

While a second season is possible, Secret Level still needs to demonstrate its lasting appeal. Its success will depend on maintaining quality throughout all 15 episodes, not just a few exceptional ones – including the debated Concord episode, which the creators have recently addressed. With more studios exploring this short-episode format, it begs the question of whether audiences will continue to enjoy these shorter stories, or if they’ll ultimately prefer full-length series based on their favorite games.
