Secret Warzone fall damage nerf makes meta Perk even more OP

As a seasoned Warzone player with countless hours under my belt, I must say that the recent changes to Mountaineer Perk have left me both astounded and exhilarated! The ability to survive 100-meter drops without taking a scratch is truly mind-boggling. It’s like jumping off the tallest skyscrapers in Verdansk and walking away unscathed!

In the game Warzone, the Mountaineer perk lets players fall from higher heights without getting killed. However, following a covert reduction of fall damage during Season 5, this ability has grown even more overpowered, enabling survival from falls as high as 100 meters.

Players are now able to plummet from great heights using Mountaineer, without sustaining any harm. Additionally, falls from greater distances can be survived as long as players manage the stun and damage inflicted during the fall.

In a recent breakdown by well-known Call of Duty content creator IceManIsaac, he shared that previously, fall damage started at 6.5 meters, resulting in death after a 13-meter drop. However, following an update, this threshold increased to 13 and 26 meters with the introduction of Mountaineer.

Currently, the survival height for players has significantly increased. Without the Perk, they can endure falls as high as 16 meters, while having the Mountaineer perk boosts this limit to a remarkable 34 meters.

An eight-meter boost translates to a jump height that allows survival across all Warzone maps where you’d have perished before due to falling, regardless of whether or not you had the Perk activated.

Now, The Perk offers a new advantage: players can safely drop from heights of up to 15 meters without suffering major harm. This is incredibly beneficial in situations where you need to swiftly escape following damage, without having to deploy a parachute.

As a seasoned skydiver myself, I can attest to the fact that the world of skydiving is not just about jumping out of a plane and free-falling. It’s about mastering the art of controlling your descent, and it turns out that IceMannIsaac has made an exciting discovery in this regard! You see, I learned the hard way that skydiving isn’t just about leaping from the plane; it’s about managing your fall effectively. And what a game-changer it is to find out that the damage during a skydive is actually based on velocity!

IceManIsaac demonstrated several instances of individuals falling from heights up to 50 meters without using a mountaineer’s equipment and surviving by employing a pull-back technique. However, he asserts that with the specified Perk, you can avoid activating your parachute entirely if the fall is within 100 meters, implying effortless descent.

It’s uncertain if the reduction in fall damage has boosted the effectiveness of this fresh technique, but it allows for bolder playstyles when respawning and jumping from greater altitudes. However, always be mindful of the distances and consider fall damage to avoid putting yourself at a significant disadvantage during firefights, as it can still prove detrimental.

Isaac, known as IceMan, thinks it’s fantastic that the movement and traversal have changed because he finds the current parachute animation uncomfortable, and this update provides players with greater flexibility when making decisions about how to navigate the game.

It’s uncertain if the modification to this method and fall damage reduction was intentional or not, but IceManIsaac doesn’t want the developers to eliminate it. We’ll have to keep an eye out to see if Activision plans to tackle this issue in their weekly updates or the next significant patch, Season 5 Reloaded.
