It appears there might be an upcoming announcement for an anime version of the game “Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice,” hinted by a recent web domain registration. Although whispers of a Sekiro anime had circulated before due to leaks, this new development offers one of the first concrete signs suggesting that such an adaptation could indeed be in production.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice” is a challenging game developed by FromSoftware, first released in 2019. It was well-received, garnering positive critical acclaim and awards. As of 2023, it has sold over ten million copies, establishing itself as a strong FromSoftware title. However, it’s been somewhat eclipsed by more recent FromSoftware releases like the iconic “Elden Ring.” Fans of FromSoftware have also been asking for a remaster or remake of “Bloodborne,” which remains exclusive to the PS4, thereby diverting attention from “Sekiro.” Yet, that situation might shift when fans become aware of this recent discovery.

Sekiro Anime Gets One Step Closer to Reality
It has recently been discovered that an anime-related domain for the game “Sekiro” named “Sekiro-Anime.JP” was registered online. Interestingly, this registration was carried out by Kadokawa, who hold a significant 70% stake in FromSoftware, the developers of “Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.” The domain was registered on July 31 and is currently active for a year, with the possibility of extension. At present, the web address directs to a 404 error page.

Currently, the only definite information available about the Sekiro anime is scant. Earlier whispers have hinted at more details, though it’s crucial to remember that these are unconfirmed rumors. It’s said that a studio named Qzil.la might be involved in this project, known for their work on Kuromi’s Pretty Journey, the eleventh ending of Chainsaw Man, and the first season opening of Hell’s Paradise. However, there’s been some controversy regarding this studio due to their plan to create an anime adaptation of The Ideal Sponger Life using 60% generative AI. This has sparked concern among fans about whether similar technology might be used in the Sekiro anime. Until an official announcement is made, these assumptions remain speculative.
Currently, fans are left in a state of anticipation, as we await an official word from either Kadokawa or FromSoftware regarding any updates. Given that they’ve secured the URL, there’s a strong possibility that this announcement might come sooner rather than later.
