Fans Spot Strange Parallels Between Severance’s Lumon and Apple

On the Reddit page dedicated to the show “Severance,” a viewer named Arteye-Photo shared observations they found uncanny comparisons between Lumon Industries, the series’ biotechnology company, and tech behemoth Apple. The viewer hints at a striking resemblance in their addresses: In episode 2 of season 1, Petey provides Mark with Lumon’s location as 499 Half Loop Road, which is remarkably similar to Apple’s former headquarters address, 1 Infinite Loop, located in Cupertino, California. Yet, this isn’t the only connection; there are more parallels to explore.

In this fictional series, the character Arteye points out that employees of Lumon view its founder Kier Eagan, much like some tech enthusiasts viewed Steve Jobs of Apple Inc., as a near-deified figure. A parallel is also drawn between the Perpetuity Wing at Lumon and The Steve Jobs Theater at Apple Park – both serve as museums to their respective companies’ values and founders. Additionally, an image showing structural similarities between Lumon and Apple’s buildings is shared, with both showcasing circular architectural designs. Interestingly, the show uses Bell Labs, now owned by Nokia, as a stand-in for Lumon’s headquarters, and it bears a striking resemblance to Apple’s own corporate building.

In the second installment of “Severance,” we’ll see some fresh faces joining the show. Among them are Gwendoline Christie from “Game of Thrones,” Alia Shawkat, Bob Balaban, Merritt Wever, Robby Benson, Stefano Carannante, John Noble, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, and Sarah Bock. Early feedback on season two of “Severance” suggests that it might surpass the excitement and impact of its first season.

Severance season two will be released via Apple TV+ on January 17, 2025.
