Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered release date announced

As a longtime fan of Grasshopper Manufacture and their unique brand of quirky, action-packed games, I can’t help but get excited about the upcoming release of Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered. This game, first released in 2011, took me on a wild ride through the dark and twisted depths of Hell, following the misadventures of demon hunter Garcia Hotspur as he fought to rescue his beloved Paula from the clutches of the demon king Fleming.

NetEase Games and Grasshopper Manufacture have officially revealed that Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered will be released on October 31st for PC (via Steam), PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. Pre-orders can be made on “many platforms” as stated by the publisher.

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I can tell you that I’m thrilled to bits about the upcoming additions to the remastered edition of this beloved game. And let me tell you, it’s not every day that we get new content for a classic title!

In a quirky and darkly themed universe where Hell intertwines with rock music, Shadows of the Damned is an action-adventure game that was first introduced to gamers on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 back in 2011.

In an exhilarating journey, players join demon hunter Garcia Hotspur as he battles demons and delves deep into the underworld’s shadows. Armed with unyielding determination, Garcia illuminates the darkness, pursuing a heartfelt objective: rescuing his beloved from the clutches of a malevolent demon monarch.

Garcia, the rugged and slightly errant hero, and his loyal companion Johnson the Skull, display unyielding determination as they embark on a heartfelt journey through the chaos of Hell. Their quest is driven by their deep love for Paula, who has been abducted by Fleming, the malevolent ruler of the underworld.

In the realm of this struggle, contrasting realms of light and shadow hold sway. Demons thrive in the shadows, their power surging – akin to the intensity of a late-night rave. Conversely, they are weakened in the light, much like someone recovering from a brutal hangover. Leverage your partner Johnson and his diverse arsenal of weaponry to forge a path through the shadowy depths of Hell.

One of the exciting additions is the “New Game Plus” function, long anticipated since the initial release of the game in 2011. The developers explain that “this feature lets you keep your weapons and enhancements from previous playthroughs for a new game, making subsequent plays significantly more powerful.”

In the upgraded versions of Shadows of the Damned: Hella on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam, you can expect a smooth 60 frames per second experience along with stunning 4K graphics. However, please note that the Switch version will offer a frame rate of 30fps.

As a big fan, I’m excited to share that there are four fresh new costumes added to this updated version of the game: Placa Garcia, Ocho Corazones, Demonio Garcia, and Kamikaze Garcia. For more insights into how these costumes came to be, mark your calendars for July 31st! That’s when Shinji Mikami, Suda51, and other team members will be live on the official YouTube Channel in a new edition of “Grasshopper Direct,” sharing behind-the-scenes stories and revealing some intriguing new details.

Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered is coming to PC and consoles on October 31st.
