In the upcoming Spider-Man film, Tom Holland reprises his role following the success of a three-part series. A number of actors are set to appear in Spider-Man 4, with Sadie Sink being one of them; her character has sparked curiosity among fans.

As a die-hard film fan, I’m thrilled to share that I’ll once again see Tom Holland suit up as Spidey in “Spider-Man 4”. This upcoming film will be helmed by director Daniel Cretton. Amy Pascal and Marvel President Kevin Feige are producing this exciting project. Recent buzz has it that Millie Bobby Brown, known for her role in “Stranger Things”, is joining the Spider-Man franchise’s fourth installment. Her casting was officially confirmed months after whispers of her potential role as Jean Grey in “X-Men”. Fans quickly connected the dots and speculated she might debut as Jean in “Spider-Man 4”. However, two reliable sources have since dismissed those rumors.

In a recent episode of John Rocha’s podcast, The Hot Mic, entertainment journalist Jeff Sneider shared insights about Superman, Spider-Man 4, and John Wick 5, among other topics. During their conversation, the host inquired about Sink’s potential role as Jean Grey in X-Men. However, Sneider clarified that the names he had previously mentioned for X-Men were characters that Marvel was fond of, but Sink’s exact role is yet to be confirmed. He explained that there is no director attached to the X-Men project at this stage, and it is still in its early developmental phase. Furthermore, he mentioned that after his published story about Sink’s role was read, someone reached out to him to clarify the details, indicating potential changes in Sink’s role.

It seems I performed adequately in that piece. Following the publication of my story last night, as expected, I received additional insights. The process typically goes: publish, readers read, they comment, ‘Ah, this fellow isn’t quite right, let me educate him.’ Indeed, someone contacted me last night, and it appears she will be Mary Jane.

In other words, Rocha questioned if Mary Jane from Sink’s series was a resident of another universe. Sneider admitted the details were unclear to him due to his lack of knowledge on comic books, but he remained confident about Sink’s role. “To me, it seems she will indeed be playing Mary Jane.” Sneider isn’t alone in refuting speculations that Sink would portray Jean Grey in the MCU. Another source, MyTimeToShineHello, clarified on platform X (previously known as Twitter): “I can confirm for sure that Sadie Sink is not taking on the role of Jean Grey.

There’s no question that actress Sink is skilled and adaptable, making her an ideal candidate to play either Jean Grey or Mary Jane in Spider-Man 4. However, given her youthful age of 22, Sink seems better suited for the role of Mary Jane since the character is still a teenager. Unlike Jean Grey who is an established member of the X-Men and is in her 30s, Sink’s fiery, strong, and natural charm closely resembles that of the original Mary Jane Watson.

Moreover, Sink shares a great on-screen chemistry with Holland’s Peter Parker, which is essential since Mary Jane is Peter’s love interest in the comics. The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has yet to introduce a comic-accurate MJ; Zendaya’s Michelle Jones, also known as MJ, differs from the original character. This new MJ was specifically created for the MCU. The prospect of Mary Jane in the next Spider-Man film and potentially a love triangle is thrilling!

Spider-Man 4 will hit theaters on July 31, 2026.
