The highly anticipated game “Stellar Blade” by Shift Up was recently launched for Windows and has since skyrocketed to become one of the most played PC games, selling more than a million copies in merely three days. In 2023, Shift Up secured a deal making them Sony’s first Korean second-party developer, and given the game’s triumph, it’s no surprise that Sony is capitalizing on its success. Yet, this doesn’t rule out the possibility of the game being made available on other platforms in the future.
There’s uncertainty about whether the game will be launched on Xbox systems, but there might be a chance for it on the Nintendo Switch 2, hinted by a recent leak. To mark the game’s triumph on PC, Shift Up presented a brand new Nintendo Switch 2 to each of its staff members, fueling speculation about a potential Switch 2 launch.
Shift Up’s gift to its developers could hint at a Stellar Blade release on Switch 2
I’ve just learned, as a passionate fan, that the talented team at Shift Up has been graced with an exclusive developer kit (Devkit) specifically for the upcoming Switch 2, courtesy of CEO Kim Hyung-tae in recognition of their game’s success on PC. This devkit appears to be packed with unreleased APIs, testing software, and debugging tools – essentially all they need to dive right into developing the Switch 2 port.
It’s quite plausible given that Sony has previously made some of its intellectual properties available on Nintendo’s systems. Moreover, with Stellar Blade having amassed a substantial following, launching it on new hardware could broaden its fan base and increase profits for the company.
Shift Up representative talked about the possibility of Stellar Blade‘s Switch 2 release

It’s possible that Shift Up didn’t provide Switch 2 consoles specifically for the development of the Switch 2 port, as they have done something similar before. In fact, Shift Up gave PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro units to their developers in 2021 and 2025 respectively, not for the first time.
It’s worth mentioning that Shift Up has declared that they are working on a new installment of the game Stellar Blade. However, it remains uncertain which aspect Shift Up will prioritize in this project: whether they will concentrate on developing a port for the anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 or continue with the development of the sequel itself.
According to reports from the same source, an official from Shift Up has shared that they are currently examining potential options, but no definitive decisions have been made yet.
As for the Switch 2 edition of Stella Blade, we haven’t made any official confirmations yet. We’re brainstorming potential options within our team.
At this moment, there’s no word yet about an Xbox release for the game. The exact release date on Xbox Series X/S remains uncertain. It might not become available until after Shift Up’s contract with Sony ends. For now, Xbox enthusiasts can only enjoy live streams and walkthroughs of the game.
