In my own words, I’d say that the twelfth episode of Solo Leveling Season 2 stood out as the most impressive in the series so far. It was a visual treat for those who appreciate action-packed scenes. There had been much anticipation within the fan community about whether this episode could surpass Episode 11 in terms of quality. Fortunately, Studio A-1 Pictures rose to the challenge and delivered an exceptional piece of work. The main focus of Solo Leveling Season 2 Episode 12 was on Sung Jinwoo’s fight against the Ant King, but it also provided a crucial update concerning Goto Ryuji’s fate.
Goto Ryuji Falls Prey To The Ant King
In the most recent installment, it’s been established that the Ant King was the one who took the life of Goto Ryuji, Japan’s top Hunter. Goto Ryuji had an uncanny ability to sense approaching threats even from a distance, enabling him to deflect the initial attack. As their lives were under imminent threat, Goto Ryuji instructed his companions to flee promptly.
Later on, the Ant Monarch inquired whether Goto Ryuji held the title of Human King, to which he confessed that he did. Shortly after, the Ant Monarch assaulted Goto Ryuji once more, managing to circumvent his defenses this time, leading to his unfortunate demise.
Not only did this event significantly impact the hunters residing on the island, but it also dealt a significant setback to the Japanese Hunter Association, who had been anticipating leveraging Goto Ryuji’s power for their own gain. This was clear from the dialogue between Kanae Tawata and the mission leader.
In a different wording, it can be expressed as: He wasn’t mournful, but rather, he felt let down because Goto Ryuji had met his end. This encounter underscores the Japanese Hunter Association’s disregard for Hunters and their lives. They were more interested in embarrassing Korea and demonstrating Japan’s dominance. Regrettably for them, they fell short of achieving their objective and even lost their most potent asset.
Solo Leveling’s Newest Episode Was Absolutely Insane
Sung Jinwoo Saved The Hunters From Imminent Death

After the demise of Goto Ryuji, there was a widespread belief that all Hunters on Jeju Island would meet their end. Given the disparity in their power compared to Goto Ryuji’s formidable strength, it seemed unlikely they could survive against the Ant King. However, Sung Jinwoo had anticipated such an outcome and had previously positioned his Shadows among the raid team members. This strategic move proved crucial as it enabled him to rescue the Korean Hunters from certain doom and swiftly arrive on the island.
Just who…is this human? —The Ant King
As soon as Sung Jinwoo arrived, he attended to the wounded Hunters and administered healing potions to them. However, these potions didn’t work on Cha Hae-in. Not even the Elixir of Life could aid in her recovery. Before Sung Jinwoo could figure out another solution for Cha Hae-in, the Ant King came back to the nest. The Hunter understood that this foe was no ordinary adversary and that he needed to defeat it before attending to Cha Hae-in’s needs.
The Ant King Fights Back Against Sung Jinwoo

The brawl initiated when the Ant Queen landed a punch on Sung Jinwoo, but he seemed unfazed by the hit. In response, Sung Jinwoo counterattacked, knocking the Ant King off-balance. As the battle continued, it appeared that the Hunter might emerge victorious. Yet, the Ant King managed to turn the tide momentarily by injecting poison into Sung Jinwoo.
The Hunter’s actions were hindered by the toxic substance, but it didn’t take the System too long to offer assistance. Once the poison was neutralized, the Ant King decided to undergo a transformation. Its new form appeared more intimidating and provided the Ant King with a new tool—sharp claws. Sung Jinwoo recognized that he could no longer engage in combat using his fists, so he summoned the Demon King’s Dagger and boosted its mutilation power to the maximum. This enabled the Hunter to penetrate the tough exoskeleton and ultimately defeat the Ant King. Afterward, the remaining ants chose to abandon their attack on the Hunters and retreat.
