- Players could switch between characters with unique skills.
Recently leaked information unveiled “Project X7,” a spin-off of the game “Disco Elysium” featuring Cuno and Cunoesse, two characters from the original game. This is the latest in a line of leaks about abandoned projects at ZA/UM, the company that produces “Disco Elysium.” This revelation comes after the departure of the game’s original creators, which has led to a series of canceled projects. Previously, fans had learned that a sequel was also scrapped in its early stages due to conflicts between developers and ZA/UM’s owners. Now, they must grapple with the sad news that this cancelled project, another intellectual property, will never be released.
Recently, ZA/UM unveiled two upcoming projects: a version of Disco Elysium for Android devices, and a fresh intellectual property tentatively named Project [C4]. The former intends to expand the reach of Disco Elysium to a new platform, while the latter seems like ZA/UM’s endeavor to distance itself from the influence of its popular RPG series. Intriguingly, soon after ZA/UM shared this news, an unexpected leak emerged online, eclipsing the attention given to Project [C4] and refocusing interest on Disco Elysium.
According to VG247, a previously hidden YouTube video revealed an earlier ZA/UM presentation discussing a role-playing game spin-off titled Project X7. This game centered around characters Cuno and Cunoesse and was designed with dual protagonist gameplay, enabling players to alternate between the two teenagers to exploit their distinct abilities and viewpoints. The leaked video suggested that a box of locusts would hold a profound symbolic significance in the narrative, though its specific meaning has yet to be disclosed. From the leaked details, it appears that Project X7 was intended to have five acts, with the catalyst being Cuno’s father’s murder. Additionally, similar to Disco Elysium, the game was expected to offer various endings.
Disco Elysium ‘Project X7’ Spin-Off Details
- Cuno and Cunoesse were the protagonists.
- Players could switch between characters.
- Each character had unique thoughts and skills but shared a joint inventory and objectives.
- The story unfolded across five acts.
- A core plot point involved Cuno’s father being murdered.
- Cuno carried a box of locusts, potentially tied to the player’s choices.
In one of Disco Elysium’s crucial storylines, characters named Cuno and Cunoesse significantly influenced events. Players initially meet them during an investigation into a hanging corpse, where Cuno is depicted throwing stones at the body. An intriguing aspect of Disco Elysium’s narrative is that it is revealed that Cuno and Cunoesse intended to leave Martinaise behind and establish a new life in Le Royaume. This plot point seems to have been pivotal for the abandoned spin-off, as leaks indicate that they were supposed to be evading authorities.

Following the emergence of a leaked presentation, ZA/UM acknowledged that the footage was authentic and revealed that ‘Project X7’ was among the concepts they explored post the triumph of ‘Disco Elysium’. The company expressed disapproval towards those responsible for the leak, as it had violated confidentiality agreements, potentially exposing sensitive information about their employees. YouTube eventually took down the video due to copyright issues. However, rumors of a scrapped RPG from the makers of ‘Disco Elysium’ stirred feelings of nostalgia among fans.
