Shonen Jump and Pokemon Drop Major Collaboration

Shonen Jump recently teamed up with Pokemon in a significant partnership, which is quite unusual as Shueisha and The Pokemon Company rarely collaborate. Typically, Pokemon manga is published by Shogakukan. However, this unique collaboration saw characters like Luffy and Pikachu appearing together.

For over two decades since its 25th anniversary in 2021, the Pokemon franchise has broadened its collaborations with various brands, both in Japan and globally. These partnerships span across diverse sectors such as clothing (like PUMA), gaming accessories (such as Razer), and music artists including Hatsune Miku and Katy Perry.

Pokemon Collab With Shonen Jump Includes Luffy, Roboco, and More

  • Mangaka from Shonen Jump will draw crossover illustrations, combining their works and Pokemon.
  • Eiichiro Oda’s illustration is among of the most anticipated ones.

In August 4, 2025, Shonen Jump has revealed that its upcoming issue will showcase artwork from several well-known manga artists within the magazine. These artists will blend their unique creations with Pokemon characters. Highlighting this fusion will be an illustration of Luffy and Pikachu by Eiichiro Oda, along with sneak peeks at collaborative artwork from Shuhei Miyazaki’s “Me & Roboco” and Koji Miura’s “Blue Box.

In the coming week, we could witness artwork from various creators, including Yuto Suzuki (known for Sakamoto Days) and Takeru Hokazono (Kagurabachi). Regrettably, due to Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia wrapping up last year, it seems unlikely that Gege Akutami and Kohei Horikoshi will contribute to this collaboration. Later on, these illustrations will be converted into stickers, and there are also plans for free gifts.

Pokemon Fans Have Lots to Look Forward to

Lately, Pokemon enthusiasts have been delighted by an abundance of fantastic news. Apart from the franchise partnering up with numerous intriguing collaborations across games, brands, and more, various anime ventures into the series’ universe are either imminent or under development.

For example, the second season of Netflix’s “Pokémon Concierge” is slated for release on September 4, 2025. Given that the latest episodes of “Pokémon Horizons Season 2” were added to Netflix in June, there’s a good chance that the fourth part will also premiere around September. Moreover, last year, it was announced that the Pokémon franchise would collaborate with the acclaimed studio Aardman on a special project. Although no fresh details have been shared since this announcement, Aardman is known for producing entertaining and high-quality series using a unique blend of clay animation and stop-motion techniques. Therefore, fans are undoubtedly looking forward to whatever The Pokémon Company and Aardman will create together.

Comics based on the Pokémon series are usually distributed in the United States by VIZ Media, a company that has ties with both Shueisha and Shogakukan, its parent companies.
