Should You Destroy the Mind Swirl Machine in Borderlands 4?

Following the successful completion of the Angry Mob mission for the Boss in Terminus Range, gamers will gain access to a fresh side mission within Borderlands 4 at The Scrap Heap, Tandem Access Memory. This task, along with others, is exclusive as it can only be completed once, allowing players’ moral choices to carry significant weight. The quest isn’t particularly complex; it involves eliminating some Order enemies and gathering their Bolts to hand over to Pickett Fenster. However, the question arises: should you stack the bolts on the desk or demolish the Mind Swirl machine?

Should You Place Bolts on the Desk OR Destroy the Mind Swirl Machine?

In the finale of Tandem Access Memory, players find themselves facing a moral dilemma. Instead of affecting prizes or relationships with the Thirst Scrap members, their decision boils down to whether to place the bolts on the desk or damage the Mind Swirl machine. Regardless of their choice, they’ll earn the same amount of Cash and XP. The differences between these choices in the mission are quite minor.

  • Place bolts on desk — The Vault Hunter will comment that it’s none of their business, and walk away, proving they’ll do anything if the cash is right.
  • Destroy Mind Swirl machine — The Vault Hunter will release the drug-addicted citizens from their mind prisons, while Pickett Fenster just assumes the machine malfunctioned and was not the Vault Hunter’s fault.

1) We chose to dismantle the Mind Swirl apparatus located on the east wall, as it poses a risk of drug addiction spreading in Kairos. This action was taken out of concern for the inhabitants, to steer them away from harmful addictions that could lead to physical and mental torment. It’s important to note that this choice is based on moral grounds and holds no bearing on the gameplay itself.
