Towards the end of the last episode of Dispatch, players face Shroud in a tough battle inside his spider-like mech. After defeating him, while Shroud is on the roof, he asks Robert for the Astral Pulse, giving players several choices. This guide details all the different outcomes you’ll get depending on whether you give him the Prototype, the Astral Pulse, or both, helping players understand the consequences of each decision in Dispatch.
The guide contains spoilers for Dispatch Episode 8.
Should You Give Shroud The Astral Pulse or the Prototype in Dispatch Episode 8?
Once Shroud captures Beef and threatens him, Robert goes to the roof to face the villain. You’ll then have three options: you can give Shroud the Astral Pulse, the Prototype, or both. While this choice seems important, it doesn’t actually affect the final outcome of the episode.

If you choose to give Shroud the Astral Pulse, he’ll let Robert know he thought you’d make the right decision. He’ll then use the Astral Pulse to boost his own power, and the power of the other Red Ring members as well.

If you choose to give Shroud the Prototype, he’ll briefly hesitate before discarding it, remarking that he anticipated this outcome. He’ll then request the Astral Pulse again, and the following events will unfold as before.
Should You Give Shroud Both in Dispatch Episode 8?
If you choose to give Shroud both the Astral Pulse and the Prototype, he’ll become confused instead of remaining calm. He’ll ask Robert why he has two Astral Pulses, and Robert will jokingly respond that he’s not sure what he was thinking when he gave them to him.
Shroud will pause to identify the correct Astral Pulse and discard the fake one. Once he inserts the pulse and activates it, players likely anticipate a familiar cutscene. Instead, Shroud will begin to vomit because he chose incorrectly. Even while feeling sick, he’ll draw his revolver and point it at Robert. This revolver scene occurs regardless of the player’s choice, meaning the final result is consistent, though the path to get there varies slightly.
So, after everything that happens, you’ll face one final, big choice. That choice wraps up the season, but the cool thing is, you can always go back and replay the episode to see how things would’ve turned out if you’d made different decisions. As a film buff, I love being able to explore those ‘what if’ scenarios!
