Should You Pick Phenomaman or Waterboy in Dispatch Episode 4?

In Episode 4 of Dispatch, players will face several key choices that change who supports Robert in crucial moments. While the main storyline remains consistent, these decisions affect which characters become important allies. One significant choice is selecting a new member for the Z-Team, a decision each player will make individually as they progress through the episode.

It can be tricky to decide between two options, particularly if you’re unsure what each teammate offers. Here’s a guide for players facing this in Dispatch.

Should You Pick Phenomaman or Waterboy in Dispatch Episode 4?

Okay, so things get really tough after Episode 3. Let me tell you, losing a team member is rough, but the game doesn’t let you breathe. Not only are you down a hero, but another one, the one who was closest to the person you let go, will quit during your shift. It throws everything into chaos. You’re forced to make quick, often bad, decisions, and honestly, you’re going to miss a lot of emergency calls. It’s a brutal way to show the consequences of your choices, and it really ratchets up the pressure.

Once Robert finishes his first shift, he’ll head to the break room to chat with Waterboy and have a lively conversation with Flambae. While he’s there, Blond Blazer will ask you to choose someone to officially join your team. The person you select will stay with your team for the remainder of the game and will be available to help with calls.

It’s completely your call who you choose, and you’re free to pick whoever you prefer. This decision unlocks two different achievements, so feel free to go back to the main menu and make a copy of your save file. That way, you can try both options and see how they affect the game. If you’re still unsure about who’s best for the Z-Team, we can walk through what happens after the choice and explain each character’s role in the dispatch sequences.

What Happens if You Pick Phenomaman in Dispatch Episode 4?

If you choose Phenomenon, Robert will find him in the showers and express his gratitude for you giving him another opportunity. He’ll give you a warm hug, and then the second shift will start, allowing you to see Phenomenon in action. When Blond Blazer introduces Phenomenon to the team, they won’t be thrilled about it, knowing what he’s dealing with. However, the shift will begin, and you can assign Phenomenon to calls that match his skills.

Phenomenon is a powerful character who starts with excellent stats in key areas like Combat, Mobility, and Vigor. This makes him a great pick for many situations. As you upgrade him, you can boost these stats even further, making him incredibly strong and increasing his chances of success, even when sent on missions by himself.

Phenomenon works well with either Punch Up or Malevola, depending on who you removed from the team last time. If you kicked Coupe, Punch Up will be his partner. If you kicked Sonar, then Malevola will synergize with him instead.

This hero’s early strength is crucial for success. Phenomenon becomes available again immediately after finishing a task, thanks to a 2-second cooldown. While this seems strong, there’s a drawback: if you fail a mission or miss an objective, he’ll become Depressed. When Depressed, his cooldown jumps to a lengthy 45 seconds, keeping him unavailable for a significant amount of time.

By the end of this episode, you’ll have a conversation with him where he’ll mention Blond Blazer. What you say can influence him and strengthen your bond. There will be further interactions in later episodes, but they won’t significantly change the story.

What Happens if You Pick Waterboy in Dispatch Episode 4?

If you choose Waterboy instead of Phenomenon, you’ll find him in the showers struggling to clear spaghetti thrown at him by Flambae. After a brief chat, Blond Blazer will introduce him, and the rest of the team will likely tease him. Once the second shift begins, you’ll be able to assign Waterboy to any calls you want.

Waterboy begins the game with remarkably low stats. With his Intellect and Mobility already at their minimum of 2, those are the most efficient stats to focus on. Due to these weaknesses, it’s best not to send Waterboy on solo missions, and he always needs a capable teammate to support him.

He won’t be ineffective for long, though. As he gains experience and levels up, he’ll become much more helpful, especially as a support player.

If you don’t use this hero frequently, he’ll automatically join any new call. While you can remove him from a call once, this can be a drawback. On the bright side, he receives a boost to his strongest ability. This makes him a valuable addition when paired with another hero, helping you achieve a higher chance of success.

Okay, so when it comes to team-ups, this character is a lot like Phenomenon. You’ll either pair him with Malevola or Punch-Up, depending on what you prefer. I’ve found that sending Waterboy to those hero training sessions that show up occasionally is really helpful. That small +1 bonus actually turns into a +3 boost to a stat! Plus, he’s got a power that lets him heal your other team members, which is awesome.

If you pick Waterboy, be aware that he’ll be a bit of a hindrance initially, but he’ll grow into a strong support character you’ll likely use frequently. Like with Phenomenon, you’ll have a conversation at the end of this episode, and you can choose what you say to improve your relationship with him for later episodes.
