When someone descends from the heavens, it’s just typical for Borderlands gamers to delve into the mystery. Upon finding an ECHO Log that reveals the whereabouts of Francis Oddman and his vow to uncover paradise beyond Kairos, their innate curiosity may drive them to explore Deep Seven, a hidden Order Silo nestled in Fadefields. The side mission, titled Exit Through the Rift Shop, is relatively straightforward to finish, but at the end, players are faced with a tough decision: should they punch Francis Oddman or shoot him? Here’s a breakdown of each choice and which one we recommend making.
Should You Punch or Shoot Francis Oddman?
Having successfully navigated the rift and found myself back in Francis Oddman’s presence, I soon discover that my mission is far from over. It seems this enigmatic figure has been conducting his twisted experiments under the Order’s watch for far too long, exploiting the hapless citizens of Kairos by teleporting them through rifts time and again in search of a supposed paradise. Little did I know that Oddman’s idea of heaven is a realm dominated by intelligent lizard rulers!
Upon reaching this revelation, it’s up to me to confront Francis Oddman. In this moment, I am faced with a difficult decision: should I deliver a well-aimed punch or take aim with my gun? The consequences of each choice are as follows:
1. Punching him: If I choose the physical approach, Oddman will be left stunned and disoriented. This gives me an opportunity to escape while the Order arrives to apprehend him for his heinous crimes. However, he may regain consciousness before they arrive, leading to potential chaos.
2. Shooting him: If I decide to end this quickly with a bullet, Oddman will be taken down immediately. This ensures that there is no chance of him recovering and causing further harm. The downside is that the Order may not approve of my lethal actions and could come after me as well.
In either scenario, I must make my move carefully to ensure the safety of Kairos and its people once and for all.
- Punch Francis Oddman – Oddman falls through a rift and disappears, potentially to be seen again.
- Shoot Francis Oddman – Oddman is shot and killed, slumped over, and never falls in the rift.
We chose to knock out Francis Oddman because, although it might seem more appropriate to shoot him, there’s a trophy called ‘Rift Incompatible’ that requires us to discover his final resting place. However, its location remains unknown at the moment. So, since we need to punch him and let him fall through the rift to find where he lands for the achievement, it seems like the best option.
