Should you skip campaign in Diablo 4 Season 5?

As an old-school Diablo fan with countless hours spent looting dungeons and slaying demons, I find myself torn between the allure of jumping straight into the new content offered by Diablo 4 Season of the Infernal Hordes and the nostalgic pull of reliving the main campaign once again.

In the Diablo 4 Season of the Furious Legions, a thrilling new narrative unfolds, leading up to the anticipated Vessel of Malice DLC. Similar to previous seasons, you’ll be required to start fresh with a brand-new character. You can either jump right into the additional content or revisit Diablo 4’s tale from its very beginning if you prefer.

If you’re a Diablo 4 novice unsure about your starting journey, we’ve got some helpful tips for you. Before considering bypassing the main storyline in Diablo 4 Season 5, here’s what you should know first.

Should you skip Diablo 4 campaign or not?

Instead of playing through the main campaign in Diablo 4’s Season of the Infernal Hordes, you can jump right into this season’s adventure by choosing to skip it. Just be aware that if you do so, you’ll encounter a lot of plot twists and secrets that were set up during the final events of the base game’s storyline, which could potentially spoil those elements for you.

Opting out of the primary storyline gives you instant access to the final game content, including the Tree of Whispers and World Bosses right from the start.

Instead, if you’re new to Diablo 4 or haven’t played the class you chose for your seasonal character, following the main storyline will provide a more gradual introduction to the game’s mechanics. This way, you’ll have an easier time learning how to develop your character, which will make transitioning to endgame content smoother.

As a fellow enthusiast, here’s my take: “Next up, you’ll need to pick between the Everlasting World and the Cyclical World. If you’re just focused on the main storyline, go for the Everlasting World. But if you’re eager to dive into all the fresh content this season has in store, then opt for the Cyclical World.”

Following that, you’ll have the opportunity to select your World Level (Difficulty Mode). You can later change this mode from the Character Selection Screen or the World Tier Statue in Kyovashad. Remember that if you’re playing with friends, all members in your group need to be on the same World Level.

In Diablo 4 Season 5, there’s been a total overhaul of Unique Items and Legendary Powers. You’ll embark on a fresh set of quests to explore this season’s gameplay mechanics, and you’ll encounter two challenging rogue-like modes at the endgame to test your character build.
