As a die-hard fan of Silent Hill and a collector of rare game versions, I must say the Secret Dog Ending in the 1.00 disc version of the Silent Hill 2 remake has left me utterly astounded. It’s like Bloober Team decided to add a dash of humor to their horror masterpiece, and it worked brilliantly!

The New Dawn”.

Although the Silent Hill 2 remake had an outstanding final result, unintentionally, they missed including the iconic Dog Ending in its initial release.

Mira, The Puppeteer

Silent Hill 2 Remake Secret Dog Ending

In nearly every game of the Silent Hill series, there’s a recurring joke centered around the dog named Mira, a Shiba Inu breed. And in the original Silent Hill 2, this wasn’t any different.

Following the discovery of a room key at the Lakeview Hotel, James unlocked the door to unveil none other than the impressive Mira, who was exposed as the mastermind behind the terrifying events unfolding within the game.

As a devoted fan, I can tell you that if you dive into the Silent Hill 2 remake now on its latest version, you’ll come across a familiar scene. But here’s the twist: Players using PlayStation 5 with the disc running at the 1.00 version are privy to an extraordinary reimagining of the dog ending.

In the special edition, James encounters Mira adorned in her best gaming headset, enacting a Dr. Evil-style swivel on a chair, as he enters with a gun in hand.

As a surprised James readies to fire, promptly, Mira slams a delightfully big red button, causing her potential assailant to assume a T-pose, followed by a lively performance on a vibrant drum machine-like keyboard.

In the game, pressing the buttons metamorphoses our protagonist, James Sunderland, into various figures from Silent Hill 2. These transformations cause him distress and confusion until the enigmatic Mira tenderly nuzzles him, providing a moment of comfort.

Unfortunately, individuals who own other gaming platforms or the digital edition of the PlayStation 5 are unable to experience this particular dog ending.

It seems that this was an initial design which Bloober Team later abandoned, opting instead for a truer adaptation of the original work. Consequently, it can only be found in the disc editions released prior to the launch.

Over time, it remains to be seen if the mysterious “Secret Dog Ending” gains enough appeal to make the 1.00 discs coveted collectibles in the future.
