Silent Hill 2 Remake Studio Boss Comments on Rule of Rose Remake Rumors

Although some players were initially unsure, Bloober Team recently showed they could successfully remake a classic horror game with the huge success of the Silent Hill 2 remake. Because they’ve already announced they’re working on a remake of the first Silent Hill, a rose-themed teaser for a February 14th announcement sparked rumors that a remake of Rule of Rose might be next. However, Bloober Team’s CEO, Piotr Babieno, quickly dismissed those rumors, but did offer some hints about the studio’s current project.

When Bloober Team hinted at a new project with a mysterious website, fans immediately started speculating about what the studio – known for the Silent Hill 2 remake – was planning. Some hoped to see the classic Born From A Wish DLC for Silent Hill 2 announced, while others wanted more content for Bloober Team’s original game, Cronos: The New Dawn. A recent hint featuring a rose icon led many to believe a remake of Rule of Rose was in development. Although horror fans are eager for a return of Rule of Rose, it appears Bloober Team won’t be the studio bringing it back – at least not right now.

Bloober Team CEO Responds to Rule of Rose Remake Rumors

After Twisted Voxel reported that Bloober Team might be remaking the PS2 survival horror game Rule of Rose, Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno responded on LinkedIn. He called the rumor a “nice guess” but confirmed that the teaser image released for February 14th has nothing to do with a remake. Rule of Rose has gained a dedicated fanbase over the years, despite some issues with its gameplay, so many fans were hoping for a remake. Babieno’s statement quickly put those hopes to rest, clarifying that the February 14th reveal will be something else entirely.

It appears the Born From A Wish DLC is unlikely to happen, as it would essentially be a remake. However, Bloober Team might revisit it – or even remake Rule of Rose – in the future. The strong fan interest in a Rule of Rose remake could definitely make Bloober Team consider it, although they currently have several projects already in development. Bloober Team’s 2025 investor report revealed at least four games are being worked on, including Project M, which will be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2. It’s still unclear whether Project M or a completely new game will be revealed on February 14th, but horror fans should watch for updates on Bloober Team’s next big project.

Despite the CEO of Bloober Team dismissing rumors about a remake of Rule of Rose, horror fans still have reasons to be excited about February 14th. The studio’s Cronos: The New Dawn was praised for its fresh take on sci-fi horror, and the fantastic response to the Silent Hill 2 remake has established Bloober Team as a leading developer in the horror genre. With Project M (a remake of the original Silent Hill), and the trademarked game Onyx: The Dark Grip also in development, Bloober Team appears to have a lot more planned for fans in the months and years to come.
