A representative from Bloober Team’s Polish studio asserts that their work on the remake of Silent Hill 2 served to contradict skeptics, as the game’s success bolstered the team’s self-assurance and professional standing. Launched in October 2024, Silent Hill 2 was met with overwhelming acclaim from both critics and gamers, and has been commended for its immersive atmosphere, stunning visuals, and adherence to the 2001 Team Silent game’s essence.
In its initial three days, Bloober Team’s remake of a highly acclaimed horror series entry outperformed all others in sales speed, eventually reaching 2 million copies worldwide by January 2025. Announced in 2022 after several leaks, there was concern among fans due to the studio’s prior releases receiving mixed reviews. Despite growing skepticism and criticism as the release date approached, Bloober Team persevered and produced one of the best-loved horror games from recent years.
As I sit down for an engaging chat with PC Gamer, the director of Bloober Team’s upcoming survival horror game, Cronos: The New Dawn, Jacek Zięba, shares a fascinating perspective on how the success of Silent Hill 2 impacted their studio. “There was a cacophony of voices: ‘Oh no, Bloober is doing this. They will ruin that.’ It was an arduous journey for our entire team to remain steadfast and pour all our passion into this project, even when most people were against it,” Zięba explained. “We managed to silence the doubters, and that feels great.”
In June, it was officially confirmed that Bloober Team is working on a remake of the original Silent Hill title, and with a surge of positive feedback from our previous projects, we’re riding high with confidence for this next addition to our collection. “I think we’re riding the wave of people’s curiosity, and now we need to deliver,” Zięba stated, discussing the team’s eagerness to succeed again. “We invest our hearts into every game we create, and we strive to make each one the best it can be.
Silent Hill 2 Studio Staff ‘No Longer Feel Like Underdogs’
Toward the beginning of June, a trustworthy source hinted at the potential for a future DLC expansion of Silent Hill 2, possibly including the “Born From a Wish” bonus scenario that was exclusive to special editions and re-releases of the original 2001 survival horror game. Although no formal announcement has been made about this extra content, fans eagerly await any potential updates at Gamescom in August.
In addition to their work on the Silent Hill remake, Bloober Team is also diligently developing Cronos: The New Dawn, expected to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S towards the end of 2025. This game promises innovative movement systems and thrilling firefights, while taking place in an alternate timeline where players delve into both the past and future to avert a catastrophe that could wipe out humanity entirely.
