As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent exploring the vast worlds of RPG games, I can’t help but share my thoughts on the potential consequences of killing Gortash during his coronation ceremony in Baldur’s Gate 3.
During your journey in Baldur’s Gate 3, you have the freedom to make some questionable choices based on your game progress. These decisions could lead to unwanted consequences, and in some cases, you may feel remorse for your actions. On the other hand, if your playthrough is focused on good alignment, be cautious as even a single error could significantly impact your experience in Act 3.
Reddit user ‘SufficientMixture614’ noted that ending Gortash’s life during his coronation in Act 3 comes with significant risks. While it may seem tempting to side with Karlach and carry out the deed, consider the potential repercussions carefully before proceeding.
Initially, the Steel Watch storyline is missing and The Foundry has been devastated, resulting in the deaths of all the Gondians within it. Consequently, the entire Iron Throne mission has come to an end, effectively eliminating a significant portion of Act 3’s content.
The Duke Ravengard meets his end on the Iron Throne with a high probability of its destruction during Gortash’s absence. As a result, Wyll takes on a new task: attempting to bring the Duke back to life. Sadly, Mizora’s romantic scene will be put on hold due to these events, based on the original post.
An alternate description could be: Significant alterations involve finding an unexplained reason for tying Volo to a cart, while access to Wyrm’s Rock Bridge is restricted on its crossing end, compelling travelers to seek an alternative route to reach the Lower City.
Killing Gortash at the coronation really messes up Act III

As a gamer, I find myself in a tricky situation with Gortash being the chosen vessel of Bane, on the brink of becoming Baldur’s Gate’s new ruler. Karlach harbors a deep desire to take him down before this coronation takes place. However, maintaining my composure and forging an alliance with him, even if temporary, seems like the wisest choice. This partnership not only grants me access to every corner of the city but also ensures my safety under the Steel Watch’s protection.
In Act 3, nearly every event is connected to Gortash, explaining why his elimination before the climax brings about numerous repercussions. He wields significant power over the Steel Watch and Iron Throne, making it inevitable that his absence will lead to their collapse, ultimately destroying The Foundry as well.
Instead of this: On the one hand, Wyrm’s Rock is now closed off following his death, making it simpler for the Netherbrain to take charge of the remainder of the city. Conversely, Volo’s predicament appears more likely to be a glitch, as no clear reason has emerged for why he is bound on the cart.
To avoid unfortunate incidents during Act 3, it’s recommended that players carefully strategize their approaches. Navigating through Baldur’s Gate necessitates staying attuned to your surroundings and determining the order of missions for an enjoyable journey.
As a gamer, I’ve sometimes felt restricted in open-world games when it comes to the sequence of events I can experience. While I understand why certain consequences occur, I yearn for greater freedom to shape my own journey through the game world.
