I’m excited to share that the extended part of “Sk8 the Infinity” is about to hit Japanese screens soon! A fresh trailer for this highly-anticipated event has just been unveiled, and in a matter of days, we’ll be able to catch it in theaters!
Enthusiasts can hardly contain their excitement for Season 2, and it’s speculated that the production crew might disclose additional details about it during the premiere of the OVA in Japan. The timing could work out perfectly (but no official announcements have been made yet).
The latest trailer extends beyond the length of the prior “complete trailer” and provides a glimpse into the four episodes of this Original Video Animation (OVA).
When Will the OVA Make Its Debut?
For a brief period before its home video release, an additional part will make its debut in Japanese cinemas, beginning from January 24, 2025. Later on, the Blu-ray discs are scheduled to be shipped on March 19.
The OVA comprises four distinct tales, each starring unique characters. The initial story revolves around Reki, Langa, and Miya, while the second centers on Shadow. The third installment spotlights Joe and Cherry, and the concluding episode follows Adam and Snake.
As per the ANN, the episodes are named “From Ame to Neko Convenience Store Ice Soda Flavor”, “Becoming More and More Lazy”, “Morning Habits”, and “Let’s Go, Hiromi-chan!”.
Although the OVA spans only 25 minutes, the cinema version encompasses a video recap of the first season and a separate one focusing on the cast, making its duration approximately 60 minutes.
Has The International Release Been Confirmed?
At present, an international release has not been officially announced. But, you can currently watch the first season on Crunchyroll, a platform known for licensing such content. Therefore, there’s a chance that the OVA might be accessible to overseas viewers in the future. If it does get released, it would likely happen from March 19, 2025, onwards.
Sk8 the Infinity – A Daring Skateboarding Adventure
In this captivating tale, we follow the paths of Reki and Langa as they unknowingly join an extremely risky skateboard competition called “S.” Although Reki is passionate about skateboarding, Langa has no prior experience with it. This dynamic duo will embark on a thrilling skateboarding journey, testing not just their skills but also confronting artificial intelligence along the way.
This animation, uniquely crafted by Studio Bones (known for “My Hero Academia”) and Hiroko Utsumi (a director who has worked on “Free! Eternal Summer” and “Banana Fish”), often garners the attention of BL fanbases due to Utsumi’s involvement.
Sk8 the Infinity is currently streaming on Crunchyroll, subbed and dubbed.
