Skate 4 Reveals What to Expect From Season 1

Skate‘s first season is dropping on October 7th, and I’m hyped! They’re bringing limited-time events, fresh cosmetics, and a bunch of other cool stuff. It’s only been a little under a month since Skate finally went into early access, but the devs are *already* pushing out new content. Over the next few months, we Skate players have a lot of updates and new things to look forward to, which is awesome!

The launch of the game hasn’t been perfect for EA and developer Full Circle. While over one million people signed up for the closed playtest – an EA record – Skate received a mixed reaction after release. Many players criticized issues with the game’s servers and the use of microtransactions. Based on this initial feedback, it’s obvious fans want to see changes, and the recently announced Season 1 gives us a glimpse of what the future might hold.

Skate Season 1 Starts October 7, Brings Seasonal Events and Both Free and Paid Rewards

Full Circle first announced in 2022 that the fourth Skate game would be a live service game, and now they’ve given us a preview of the content coming in Season 1. This season will run from October 7 to December 2, 2025, and will be divided into two in-game events: Skate-O-Ween, happening from October 7 to November 11, and 7-Ply Maple Harvest, which begins on November 18 and lasts until the end of the season. Throughout each event, parks in the game will be decorated with special themes, and players can earn Tix by completing activities. These Tix can then be used to unlock themed cosmetic items. Plus, Season 1 will introduce new areas to skate in around the city.

Besides challenges tied to specific events, players will receive daily, weekly, and bigger seasonal goals to finish and earn Tix, which can then be traded for rewards. It’s important to note that while Skate still includes microtransactions that some found controversial, they aren’t the only path to getting seasonal cosmetic items. Moving forward, each season will feature two reward systems called skate.Pass: a free “Standard” level and a paid “Premium” level. Both levels allow participation in events and earning Tix, but Premium players will have access to more opportunities.

I’m so hyped for Season 1! It sounds like everyone will get a ton of stuff – at least 32 cosmetics and six tiers of SVB to unlock. If you grab the Premium skate.Pass, you’ll get even more – 42 extra cosmetics and 2 more SVB tiers! EA is saying future seasons will be even bigger and last longer, which is awesome. They’re including all sorts of cool customization options – things for your board like decks and grip tape, plus clothing, gestures, and profile stuff like banners and avatars. And get this – they’re planning collabs with real-world brands and adding new tracks to the soundtrack! It’s not just about the unlocks, either. Each season will also bring quality of life improvements. Full Circle really wants this reboot to be the “best Skate has ever felt”, and these fixes should definitely help them achieve that.
