The latest development update for the fan-made project “Skyblivion,” which aims to recreate “The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion” using the engine from “Skyrim,” has been announced. The team behind the “Oblivion” remake is continuing their efforts, and they’re aiming for a release in 2025. This update will offer players a revitalized and reimagined rendition of the world.
Enthusiasts of the game “Oblivion” were elated when they heard about an official update, and “Oblivion Remastered” has generally met expectations. Yet, the long-term project known as “Skyblivion,” which has been in progress for over a decade, continues to develop. These two titles will offer distinct experiences since “Skyblivion” has evolved into something more than just a basic remaster.
Skyblivion Shares Progress Report
Skyblivion, which is almost ready for release after years of development, has shared a new behind-the-scenes video to give fans a sneak peek at its progress. As the clip explains, Skyblivion has grown beyond just modernizing assets; it’s also been working diligently to reinstate features from Oblivion that were initially discarded before the game hit shelves in 2006. One instance of this is Sutch, a location that was originally meant to be a city rather than just a fort in the original game. The Skyblivion team has been dedicated to restoring it as a ruined cityscape. Additionally, they’ve added the Chapel of Kynareth to Sutch, making it have its own Divine Protector.
In the well-known city of Anvil, there are major modifications underway. Taking cues from the original concept art, the Skyblivion team has revamped the Anvil harbor, making it larger by extending the docks beyond the town’s border. Leles’ Quality Merchandise has been relocated to Anvil, and a fresh Alchemy store, Tide and Tonic, has been incorporated. A video tour offers a sneak peek at the alterations players can anticipate in the upgraded Anvil.

As an ardent admirer, I’m thrilled about the ongoing development of Skyblivion! It’s fascinating how they’re dividing the Deadlands into two distinct biomes – The Burn and The Sever. The Burn, with its fiery, stereotypical zones, stands in stark contrast to The Sever, which mirrors its Elder Scrolls Online counterpart, subjected to relentless lightning strikes. Unlike The Burn, The Sever is a dynamic, ever-changing landscape. Moreover, the pool of randomly chosen worlds has been significantly enlarged from the original seven in Oblivion, now boasting an impressive eleven! This expansion aims primarily at minimizing repetition and monotony, ensuring a more immersive gaming experience.
Even though Skyblivion hasn’t been released yet, the team is making significant progress and has hinted that they will soon unveil The Imperial City next. Given that 2025 is already halfway through when this video was published, fans won’t have to wait too much longer for the game to become a tangible reality.
