Skyrim Is Getting Another Port In 2025

It felt like a few years had passed since the last re-release of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, but the popular game is now available on the new Nintendo Switch 2 console.

When the Nintendo Switch was first announced, Skyrim was among the initial games showcased, exciting players with the possibility of playing it on the go. It was a particularly strong choice for a third-party title, given its massive scope and the fact that it hadn’t previously appeared on a Nintendo console.

I’m so excited! It looks like Skyrim is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2! Bethesda just dropped a trailer and it’s amazing – they’re really updating the game for the new console. And get this – Shirley Curry, the incredible ‘Skyrim Grandma,’ is actually in the game! It’s going to be awesome seeing her in Skyrim again.

What’s New In The Nintendo Switch 2 Port Of Skyrim?

The Skyrim version for Nintendo Switch 2 includes everything from the Anniversary Edition – all downloadable content, access to fan-made creations from the Creation Club, and special content inspired by The Legend of Zelda games.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Skyrim mainly improves how the game runs. Players can expect quicker loading, sharper graphics, and a smoother overall experience compared to the original Switch release.

Okay, so a lot of game updates for the new Switch 2 are gonna cost extra, but thankfully, Bethesda isn’t doing that with Skyrim! If you already own the Anniversary Edition on the original Switch, you’re getting the upgrade for free. That’s a huge win, honestly.

Honestly, I’m not even shocked to hear Skyrim’s getting ported again in 2025. Knowing Bethesda, it’ll probably keep happening with every new console that comes out – PlayStation 6, whatever Xbox comes next, the whole nine yards. It feels like if Todd Howard had absolute power, like a character from Warhammer 40k, he’d make sure Skyrim runs on everything, even if people didn’t ask for it!
