Skyrim Player Confused By Weird Ghost Flag

Skyrim Player Confused By Weird Ghost Flag

Key Takeaways

  • Skyrim’s open world holds mysterious glitches, like a ghost flag casting shadows near Arcwind Point.
  • The glitched flag appears to be coming from a tower being projected through a mountain, hinting at a code error.
  • Bethesda may address this visual bug in a future Skyrim update, as it has done with previous glitches.

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I have seen my fair share of strange occurrences within virtual worlds. However, nothing quite compares to the ghost flag mystery that has recently surfaced in Skyrim.

A player exploring the vast open world of ‘Skyrim’ stumbled upon an enigmatic spectral flag-like shadow close to Arcwind Point, stirring up a bit of perplexity. While Skyrim is teeming with unusual occurrences, some of which can be explained, this spectral flag might just be one of those that remain mysteries even today.

Similar to earlier games in the Elder Scrolls series, Skyrim boasts an expansive, secret-filled open world brimming with distinctive characters. For instance, it includes the dragon language, thief’s guild symbols, and the enigmatic character Babette from the Dark Brotherhood. The game provides explanations for these elements, allowing thorough players to uncover solutions to their queries. Although many mysteries in this RPG can be resolved within the game, others stem from bugs largely documented by tech-savvy gamers. Some common glitches include flying mobs, concealed treasure chests, and abilities that inexplicably boost skills. One player has uncovered an unusual anomaly: a ghost flag casting a shadow on the ground.

Reddit user Phantom-scribbler recently posted a clip from Skyrim that showcases their quest to find a ghost flag. The video concentrates on an area close to Arcwind Point, where the silhouette of a flag is visible on the sloping mountain beneath the player. The character then investigates where the shadow is originating, noticing only rock formations between two mountains on either side of the path the Skyrim Dragonborn is traversing. Subsequently, the camera tracks the direction of the shadow, which ascends one mountain, and then follows it to determine if it’s being cast upside down from the other mountain.

This Skyrim Player Found a Ghost Flag

In Phantom-scribbler’s video, there’s no structure similar to what the flag is attached to, and no flag is visible. However, according to a Reddit user who posted a screenshot of the same location, a tower filled with Skyrim’s Draugr Deathlords can be seen on the other side of the mountain. It appears that due to a glitch or anomaly, this tower and its tattered flag seem to pass through the mountain. This glitch doesn’t seem to affect just one player, as another has also encountered the same “ghost” flag. The flag can be consistently found near Arcwind Point, which suggests there might be an issue with the code related to the flag or the mountain it hides behind.

Although Bethesda has fixed several issues in Skyrim over time, numerous glitches still persist. Since Bethesda occasionally updates Skyrim, there’s a possibility that this visual bug could be addressed in an upcoming fix.
