It’s not surprising that Bethesda collaborated with numerous creators of Skyrim mods when developing the 26 new features for the Anniversary Edition.

The Anniversary Edition includes everything found in the Skyrim Special Edition through the Creation Club, plus it adds a collection of brand-new mods. Some of these mods pay tribute to earlier games within the Elder Scrolls series, while others significantly alter how players engage with the world of Skyrim.

1. Rare Curios

In a seemingly straightforward fashion, The Rare Curios modification stands out among the best for the Skyrim Anniversary Edition, owing to its vast array of unique items. Numerous Khajiit vendors scattered across Skyrim will provide an assortment of fresh Rare Curios, gathered from various regions in Tamriel.

A significant number of these fresh components were familiar from past Elder Scrolls games, each boasting distinctive characteristics that Alchemists can employ in crafting potent elixirs. Furthermore, the mod incorporates Poisoned Apples from Oblivion, inflicting sustained damage to health over time. These apples can be surreptitiously placed in NPC pockets, leading to their gradual demise.

2. Forgotten Seasons

In the Anniversary Edition, The Forgotten Seasons is among several expansions offering a brand-new area for gamers to delve into. Nestled within the Runoff Cave in the Reach, lies the ominous Dwemer ruins, which pose a danger to all of Tamriel. It’s up to players to investigate each of its four sections to disable the menacing Dwemer machines that are jeopardizing Skyrim.

Although Sotha Sil was slain by Almalexia in Morrowind and Almalexia met her end at the hands of the Nerevarine, it remains unclear what became of Vivec – whether he perished or vanished without a trace is still uncertain.

The Ghosts of the Tribunal expansion doesn’t only introduce a detailed questline centered around lore, but it also brings much anticipated elements from Morrowind such as armor, weapons, characters, and settings, plus a commitment to shed light on the events that transpired in the years after the demise of Vvardenfell.

The Cause Investigates What Happened After TES IV: Oblivion

In contrast to Ghosts of the Tribunal, which pays tribute to Morrowind within Anniversary Edition, The Cause carries on from the Oblivion Crisis. Although Mehrunes Dagon was vanquished in the climactic moments of Oblivion, the Mythic Dawn cult did not disband.

The narrative introduces a questline that delves into the activities of Mehrunes Dagon’s disciples following their master’s defeat. It also includes armor, weapons, and various items themed around Oblivion, as well as an Ayleid Ruin for exploration, complete with updated visuals for a more modern feel.

Saints and Seducers

In the Skyrim Anniversary Edition, you’ll find Saints and Seducers among its offerings – a nod to the fourth Elder Scrolls game, Oblivion. These characters serve as protectors of Mania and Dementia in the Daedric Prince Sheogorath’s realm known as the Shivering Isles.

As they progress, players learn that each bandit group models themselves after the Golden Saints and Dark Seducers. Ultimately, they encounter a cultist who worships a forgotten Daedric Prince, whom they must confront.

The Return of the Gray Cowl

In The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, the Gray Hood played a pivotal role in the Thieves’ Guild missions. This Gray Hood, however, is not merely a disguise; it’s a powerful Daedric Artifact that was pilfered from the Daedric Prince Nocturnal, earning its association with the most revered thieves.

The Gray Cowl sports Daedric writing on its bridge, which translates to “Shadow protect you”. This is a nod to its previous owner, and within the realm of Skyrim, donning it bestows the Detect Life ability upon the user. Intriguingly, it’s the only item in the entire game that offers this bonus passively.

5. Arcane Accessories & The Necromantic Grimoire

One of the top choices in the Creation Club is the Arcane Accessories production, loved for its innovative new spells for Mages and diverse selection of dual-type Mage Robes. Furthermore, the Necromantic Grimoire offers comparable enhancements – it introduces 13 fresh Necromancy spells and a unique armor set for summoning the dead, as opposed to typical magic.

These inventions enrich the magical aspect of Skyrim, and while they don’t offer overpowering abilities like some spells from the original game, they provide more affordable alternatives instead.

6. Survival Mode & Camping

Two widely favored modifications from the Creation Club complement each other particularly well. The Survival mode mod fundamentally alters gameplay experience by incorporating elements such as hunger, exhaustion, resource replenishment rates, disabling instant travel, and player sensitivity to environmental factors like coldness and warmth.

Camping complements Survival Mode, allowing players to experience living off the grid without being overloaded by maintenance tasks. Players can craft Camping Essentials using a forge, and they’re guided through the process once they set up their initial campsite.

7. Pets of Skyrim & Wild Horses

This “Pets of Skyrim” mod introduces an assortment of adorable and useful creatures that players can take along on their journeys. Initially, five pets are provided within this mod, but additional companions can be found in various other mods bundled with the Skyrim Anniversary Edition.

This add-on allows you to find unique wild horses across the landscape and tame them using an exclusive Horse Breaking system. Once tamed, you can own these horses and personalize them. 8. Fearsome Fists & Unarmed Improvements

Back in Skyrim, unarmed combat was often seen as a lighthearted option, resorted to by players who had exhausted all other methods for defeating foes. Interestingly, the Gloves of the Pugilist were among the scant options for wielding unarmed weapons.

In the Anniversary Edition, The Fearsome Fists addon brings about a substantial change. It enhances unarmed combat by introducing 15 brand-new gauntlets, some of which come equipped with blades, spikes, and various accessories to give your unarmed strikes quite the powerful impact.

9. Goblins Are Finally Back

Despite the Goblins from Oblivion and other Elder Scrolls games not being particularly missed, there’s no grumbling about their appearance in the Anniversary Edition. It’s a bit surprising to spot these small green creatures in the Skyrim engine, especially when contrasted with the Draugr, spiders, and other enemies that Skyrim initially introduced.

Goblins were initially added through the Creation Club, prior to their appearance in the Anniversary Edition. They are featured in the Blue In The Face quest series, centered around a blue-faced Orc whom the goblins reverence.
