This article contains spoilers from the Solo Leveling anime and manhwa.
Solo Leveling is a fast-paced, action-packed anime filled with intense battles, dangerous dungeon explorations, and thrilling challenges for the main character, Sung Jin-Woo. The series focuses almost entirely on the action, with little time spent on Jin-Woo’s personal life or relationships, like the one with Cha Hae-In, as he constantly faces increasingly powerful enemies.
In the series *Solo Leveling*, Cha Hae-In is developing strong feelings for Jin-Woo, but he seems to take her affection for granted while prioritizing his own important missions. This has frustrated viewers, who have noticed several instances where Sung Jin-Woo unintentionally showed disrespect towards Cha Hae-In.
Jin-Woo Thinks Cha Hae-In’s Weapon Is a Miner’s Pick
Cha Hae-In Only Wants to Help Jin-Woo

- Jin-Woo unveils his powers to Cha Hae-In.
- Cha Hae-In uses a sword as her main weapon.
In *Solo Leveling Season 2*, when Cha Hae-In borrowed a pickaxe from a miner, Sung Jin-Woo initially assumed it was her primary weapon. She gripped the pickaxe so tightly and with such determination that it seemed less like a mining tool and more like a symbol of her strength and commitment to helping her fellow hunters in the A-rank dungeon.
You know, I think I just realized Jin-Woo seriously underestimated Cha Hae-In! He totally thought that pickaxe was *it*, her only weapon. But she’s so much more than that – she can handle seriously dangerous tools with incredible skill and power. It really hit me that Jin-Woo doesn’t truly *know* her, even with all the hype around her being the ninth S-rank hunter and the vice-master of the Guild. It’s a bit shocking, honestly!
Jin-Woo Scolds Cha Hae-In for Getting Carried Away
Jin-Woo Overshadows Cha Hae-In Once Again

- Cha Hae-In effortlessly wins against Kanae Tawata.
- Cha Hae-In directly hit Atsutshi Kumamoto 14 times.
Cha Hae-In doesn’t often get a chance to shine in *Solo Leveling*, as the story usually centers on Sung Jin-Woo’s biggest battles. That’s why her performance in the practice match between Korean and Japanese S-rank hunters before the Jeju Island raid was so impressive – she defeated Kanae Tawata and easily beat Atsushi Kumamoto, really taking control of the situation.
Jin-Woo immediately became the center of attention, overshadowing Cha Hae-In after he intervened in her fight with the out-of-control Atsushi Kumamoto. Rather than praising her fighting skills, he criticized her for losing focus and not fully utilizing her abilities.
Jin-Woo Doesn’t Want Cha Hae-In in His Guild
Jin-Woo Chooses Another Hunter Over Cha Hae-In

- Cha Hae-In attempts to join Jin-Woo’s guild.
- Jin-Woo rejects Cha Hae-In’s application for her suspicious motives.
Cha Hae-In faces a tough trial when she joins Jin-Woo’s new guild, Ahjin. Her goal is to fight alongside him, but to earn her place, she must defeat two of Jin-Woo’s strongest soldiers.
Cha Hae-In specifically sought out the Ahjin Guild, but Jin-Woo was initially suspicious of her intentions. He made her jump through hoops to prove her loyalty, more than any other applicant. While Yoo Jin-Ho thought she’d be a great fit, Jin-Woo ultimately decided to bring in Yoo Soo-Hyun, an A-rank hunter, instead.
Jin-Woo Underestimates Cha Hae-In’s Real Power
Jin-Woo Always Doubts Cha Hae-In’s Strength

- Cha Hae-In takes down Igris in a solo match.
- Cha Hae-In faces Beru after defeating Igris.
Jin-Woo often underestimates his opponents, likely because he’s become so much more powerful so quickly. But during the fight with Cha Hae-In, he was genuinely surprised by her skill. She managed to defeat his Igris using a spare weapon from the Korean Hunters Association’s gym, catching him completely off guard.
Cha Hae-In also demonstrated remarkable bravery by confronting Beru, the monster that previously eliminated her during the Jeju Island raid. She specifically requested to fight Beru, but Jin-Woo believed she wouldn’t be able to defeat Igris one-on-one. However, Jin-Woo misjudged her ability – it was the first time he’d been wrong about a fighter.
Jin-Woo Doesn’t Notice Cha Hae-In’s Growing Feelings
Jin-Woo Shows Consistent Emotional Detachment

- Jin-Woo has no idea about Cha Hae-In’s romantic feelings for him.
- Jin-Woo has zero interest in dating Cha Hae-In for most of Solo Leveling.
Jin-Woo tends to keep people at a distance, and this is especially true with Cha Hae-In. He usually appears cold and doesn’t let her see his feelings. So, it was a surprise to him when Cha Hae-In admitted she liked him after he asked why she joined the Ahjin Guild.
Jin-Woo never realized Cha Hae-In had feelings for him, simply seeing her as a strong hunter and teammate. He wouldn’t have known she liked him romantically if she hadn’t told him, and he certainly wouldn’t have thought of her as a potential partner, either in battle or in life.
