This article contains spoilers from the Solo Leveling anime and manhwa.
In the anime and manga series *Solo Leveling*, hunters like Sung Jin-Woo earn a living by exploring dangerous dungeons and battling magical creatures. The deeper and more challenging the dungeon, the greater the rewards, including valuable items like rare crystals and powerful weapons that help them survive.
I’m completely hooked on *Solo Leveling*! It’s amazing how Jin-Woo really *gets* that huge power comes with incredible danger, and for most of the story, he just accepts that risk as part of life. But then the System changes everything, and he becomes unbelievably strong. Seriously, watching him tackle and *clear* the most terrifying dungeons, one after another, with such skill and control… it’s just something no other hunter could even dream of doing. It’s breathtaking!
Hapjeong Subway Station
Jin-Woo’s Very First Instant Dungeon Clear

- Anime: Episode 3
- Manhwa: Chapter 12
Jin-Woo realizes dungeon hunting alone is incredibly risky, particularly since he’s a relatively weak hunter. But he also believes it’s essential to seize every chance to improve his abilities, even when the situation looks hopeless.
Jin-Woo got a key to a dangerous underground dungeon beneath the Hapjeong Subway Station and wondered if it was worth facing the risks. He still remembered how close he’d come to dying before, but he decided to go in anyway. As soon as he entered, he was immediately attacked by multiple monsters – Steel-Fanged Raikans, Black Shadow Razans, and Razor-Clawed Brigas all came at him at once.
Jin-Woo was initially terrified, but his fear quickly turned into resolve. He noticed he was getting stronger with each monster he defeated, actually *leveling up*. Seeing this progress for the first time made him crave even more power. Finally, he defeated the Blue Poison Fang’s Rasaka and received a remarkable reward.
C-Rank Insects Dungeon
Jin-Woo Slaughtered Eight Hunters and One Dungeon Boss

- Anime: Episode 5
- Manhwa: Chapter 19
Ants aren’t limited to Jeju Island in the world of Solo Leveling. The C-Rank Insects Dungeon was also swarming with them, hidden in the dark passages. By now, Jin-Woo’s senses were incredibly sharp, letting him locate every insect within the dungeon’s maze. However, he soon discovered a danger even greater than the insects themselves: other humans.
Jin-Woo faced a terrifying situation, having to kill other people to stay alive. He battled eight hunters who had turned against him, and they were determined to eliminate him within the dungeon. While Jin-Woo had experienced betrayal before, he was no longer the weak hunter he used to be. When the attack began, he fought without mercy, until only he and Yoo Jin-Ho remained.
I watched as Jin-Woo defeated the dungeon boss, a Giant Arachnid named Buryura. It was incredible – this spider’s venom was strong enough to dissolve steel! Just like the other hunters who’d fallen, Buryura didn’t stand a chance against Jin-Woo. It met the same end as the rest.
C-Rank Goblins Dungeon
Jin-Woo Killed Kang Tae-Shik

- Anime: Episode 9
- Manhwa: Chapter 28
Jin-Woo had a difficult past with goblins; they were some of the first monsters to almost kill him. He remembered one goblin attack early in his career that nearly cost him his life. However, after the System transformed him into a player, those same weak goblins didn’t seem so threatening anymore.
I was in the C-rank Goblin Dungeon with Jin-Woo, and honestly, the goblins weren’t his biggest problem. It was Kang Tae-Shik, a really dangerous B-rank hunter. I’d never seen Jin-Woo face anyone quite like him – a hunter who fought with a similar style. It made their battle incredibly intense and you really couldn’t predict what would happen next.
Both fighters were incredibly fast and accurate, attacking with deadly precision and disappearing quickly after each strike. Ultimately, Jin-Woo gained the advantage, and Kang Tae-Shik was defeated. Even as Kang Tae-Shik succumbed to his injuries, Jin-Woo’s face remained emotionless.
Red Gate
Jin-Woo Killed Ice Elves, Ice Bears, and Yetis

- Anime: Season 2 Episode 1
- Manhwa: Chapter 47
Fans once theorized that Jin-Woo’s growing power caused the mysterious Red Gates to appear, suggesting he was somehow destabilizing the dimensions. While this idea sparked a lot of discussion, it’s never been proven. The first Red Gate incident occurred in Season 2 of Solo Leveling, trapping Jin-Woo in a frigid, dangerous place filled with icy monsters like elves, bears, and yetis. He couldn’t escape until he defeated the dungeon’s boss, as the gate wouldn’t reopen until then.
Jin-Woo could handle the monsters himself, but he also had to protect the other hunters who were trapped with him. This added extra pressure as he tried to close the gate, especially with the freezing temperatures and constant attacks from the creatures.
To make matters worse, a reckless hunter with an A-rank ranking was trying to kill Jin-Woo while he was already battling the dungeon boss, Baruka. Ultimately, the Red Gate incident resulted in two successes for Jin-Woo: he successfully cleared the dungeon, and he gained a powerful elite shadow soldier. However, he wasn’t able to extract Baruka’s shadow, as that attempt failed.
Job Change Dungeon
Jin-Woo Almost Died Fighting Blood-Red Commander Igris

- Anime: Episode 11
- Manhwa: Chapter 38
The Job Change dungeon was incredibly difficult, one of the toughest challenges Jin-Woo had faced so far. Despite already being quite powerful, he almost died twice while trying to complete it. The enemies weren’t just regular monsters; they were highly skilled undead warriors, knights, and mages who worked together seamlessly to attack him.
The most difficult aspect was that Jin-Woo had to fight continuously, with no breaks between each wave of enemies. He didn’t get a chance to recover until he faced Igris, the Blood-Red Commander – the second-to-last challenge in the dungeon. Igris was a truly formidable opponent, unlike anyone Jin-Woo had fought before. He was quick, strategic, and never let up, forcing Jin-Woo to be perfect in every move.
Jin-Woo was fortunate during his battle in the Job-Change dungeon, managing to find small weaknesses in Igris’ attacks. Immediately after winning, the System pulled him out of the dungeon and assigned him a Daily Quest penalty, which ultimately saved him from the enemies who were still waiting to finish the fight.
S-Rank Demon Castle Instant Dungeon
Jin-Woo Completed 100 Floors and Defeated Four Bosses

- Anime: Episode 7
- Manhwa: Chapter 26
Beating a single dungeon boss was incredibly difficult, but facing four at once forced Jin-Woo to constantly adapt his approach. He had to find and take advantage of each boss’s specific weaknesses, predict their moves, and always stay one step ahead to survive.
Jin-Woo didn’t conquer the Demon Castle dungeon in a single attempt. It took multiple days because rushing would have been fatal. Each floor was packed with enemies who constantly attacked, making progress slow and deliberate. He had to return to the dungeon twice, carefully battling his way through until he defeated every boss.
Although the dungeon took Jin-Woo longer to complete, the benefits were significant. He not only obtained Kaisel, but also found the cure for his mother’s illness, making the effort worthwhile.
Jeju Island Dungeon Break
Jin-Woo Went Toe-to-Toe With the Ant King

- Anime: Season 2, Episode 9
- Manhwa: Chapter 90
The recent escape from the Jeju Island dungeon was devastating, resulting in the deaths of several top-ranked Japanese hunters and demonstrating that no hunter, regardless of skill, is truly safe. This included Goto Ryuji, considered Japan’s strongest hunter, who was instantly killed by the evolved Ant King.
The hunters from Korea and Japan would have been completely destroyed by the Ant King if Jin-Woo hadn’t intervened. For years, the ants had controlled Jeju Island, but everything changed when Jin-Woo entered the Ant Queen’s nest. With his shadow army, Jin-Woo wiped out the ants, including both the Ant Queen and King, ending their reign of terror completely.
What I witnessed was incredible – a sheer display of power that had the crowd buzzing. People started playfully suggesting that Jin-Woo was practically ‘farming’ aura, treating even the Ant King and Queen like they were just easy experience points for him. It was a funny way to express just how dominant he was.
Double Dungeon
Jin-Woo Was Reborn

- Anime: Episode 1
- Manhwa: Chapter 3
The Double Dungeon was the most harrowing experience for Sung Jin-Woo in Solo Leveling, and likely for many viewers as well. The massive statues within the Cartenon Temple, especially the Statue of God, became a source of lasting mental and physical trauma for Jin-Woo. Watching his fellow hunters die repeatedly left deep scars on him and the other survivors.
As Jin-Woo became more powerful and gained experience, he approached the Double Dungeon with confidence instead of fear. He was now ready to conquer it and defeat the System’s creator, the hidden boss known as the Architect. This climactic battle will be featured in *Solo Leveling Season 3*, and promises a thrilling fight with a single victor.
